8 hours in the ER

for them to tell me there was nothing wrong.  I hate that place.   I went in for the pains I've been having in one of my incisions.  My surgeon is in Boston this week, so the nurse told me to go to the er.  They did a cat scan and some blood work and told me there is no reason for me to be having this pain.  I was furious.  So now I just wait until my follow up appt on Monday and see what happens.

On the up side, I think I finally broke my stall...lost 3 lbs.  FINALLY!!!

Wow! How frustrating! Did you at least ask for stronger pain meds?

Yep.  That was the only good thing that came out of it, I got good pain meds!

And that's what helped me. Once I was able to finally rest, i was able to heal . The pain meds made all the difference. Hopefully, you'll be good as new in no time!

Where is the pain? Does it come and go or always there? Is it when you lift or move a certain way?
How bad is the pain?

It is only when I am standing.  I am fine when I sit.  It is on the right incision, the larger one.  The pain was bad enough that I went to the ER...and I hate the ER.  It is always worse as the day goes on.  Not bad at all in the morning.  So far today no pain.  So hopefully it went away, but we'll see.

I had a drain that is the largest of the scars on that side . Is it where your drain was? Is there any drainage redness or swelling PS I am a nurse.
I was told that I would feel some pulling on that side because they anchor things on that side so it could be that when you are standing it is pulling on that stich. If so that should go away in time.
Is it enough pain that you need to take pain meds?

Sorry your having all this pain. I would take it easy and make sure you do not lift anything heavy. My situation was different because I have a hernia but my surgeon told me at my 2 week appointment that when your standing the weight of the fat pulls down and especially having lost weight fat/skin will pull more.Hope your feeling better soon.

My Experience with incision pain:

Location was the upper right incision from my belly button. It hurt and there was a lump there.
My doctor said it was normal and that is where he pulled the stomache out, so he had to extra mend that spot.  As long as my incision was not oozing, burning red around the scar that I was ok.  It took a couple of weeks to 3 weeks to heal.  But one day i woke up and realized all small pains were gone.    As long as you didnt do anything drastic or a kid didnt kick your belly,....  hang in there, it will get better.   sorry your having troubles.

Ps:  ER may have been right, youre ok.  Remember we are healing.
However, if you are concerned about anything reaching out to ER or
the doctor was a good decision.

I just called about pain like you talk about and the nurse said I probably pulled some muscles under the incision. I was getting ready to go camping so I may have overdone it. Kind of made sense to me that it could be that. Now I have an even worse pain when I bend over on my upper left side. It sends me a pain of a 10! This is inbetween two incisions so I have no idea what it might be other than another pulled muscle. Oh to move past all of this!  I see you had surgery a week before me. I lost 18 lbs my first week and a half and have been at a standstill for over two and a half weeks. I've weighed 201 for that long!
