Surgery on Tuesday, question re: Easter dinner
I am on the liquid diet, got these great protein shakes. My diet kind of contradicts itself, though. The written instructions I was given first told me to be on a liquid diet for two weeks. Then they say, can add protein bars with max 50 grams carbs. Then they say, if you absolutely must have food, eat a lean cut of meat (chicken breast or steak) or a hard boiled egg or some string cheese. I have been eating 2 oz. string cheese to supplement and lessen the hunger every day. Would like to have a hard boiled egg tomorrow, but so close to surgery not sure.
I know it feels like cheating, but the paper says it. Also, it clears the system pretty clear as long as it isn't mixed with mayo or other stuff, I think. Up to what point should I still be able to have a protein bar? I'm a little confused, my surgery is in Mexico, so I definitely wouldn't want to screw anything up. Any advice? Thanks.

It looks like hard boiled eggs are on your list of approved foods. I think you are following instructions to have that today, unless they specifically said 'no solid food' for a a particular number of days before surgery--and that date has already come.
Like the previous poster, I am not on a liquid diet, mine is just very very low carb. I can't have anything by mouth after midnight the night before surgery.
Every surgeon is different on their pre-op plan, but you sound okay to have an egg today!
