I totally screwed up! I misread my instructions for diet and thought they said no food past midnight when it fact said only water until midnight. I ate a small all veggie salad at 1pm, is this okay? I am about to do a barium enema now... Did anyone out there mess up and eat pass their cut off? Plz advise.

I ate at 1PM the day before my surgery.  I was told no food 12 hours before surgery and my surgery was supposed to be 6am, but was pushed to 9. I was drinking liquids until midnight.  I think you will be okay.

Call your doctor right now.  Page him or her if you need too.  You can't trust us on this, it is serious.  Do it now.

Most doctors say clear liquids day before,  but some doctor's in Mexico let their patients have a last meal the night before surgery so i would think you will be fine.   The enema should get rid of all of it anyway    good luck sweetie  :o) jeani

I didn't say that she did,  but i did have to do a bowel cleanse,  so not fun.  Not everyone makes you do one.  I think its a holdover from the bypass,  which since they cut your intestines makes sense.  For us i would think not so much but my doctor told me to so i did.  All part of the fun  lol  :o) jeani

I didn't have to do an enema, but had to drink that NASTY magnesium citrate to clean the bowels   I was on clear liquids the day before and nothing at all after midnight.  I've read many other people say that they were allowed to eat the night before....and I would assume your enema will clean everything out of your system anyways.  I'd say you'd be fine.  For sure tell them tomorrow tho when they ask you that you did eat and what time.  They will ask.

I didn't have to do a bowel cleanse. My surgeon puts you on full liquids 24 to 48 hrs before surgery, and then clear liquids until about 8 hours before surgery. Then nothing by mouth.
