If I was that sensitive about race maybe I would have felt weird letting my sisters best friend live with me when her crackhead mom just kicked her out at 13 because her her boyfriend didn't like her… In my mind were all people and skin color doesn't matter! I never even noticed when people looked at us all weird when I went to her back to school night ****… and neither did she cause we were just people being there for each other… But I can say this. Her family.. who is super sensitive about white people not understand their personal struggle still blame me for white washing her?!?!? Its been like 10 ******g years! Perhaps they could have cared for her and my dumb teenage ass wouldn't have had to try to figure out what to do with a hormonal 13 year old girl! Peace love and blindness they wed all just be people. Hellen Keller would have never had this problem…. FML...
I read that post, did not come off as offensive at all, was just a description. But then again, I am a white girl.
Or "whitie in the red cavalier" as one man reffered to me as when i accidentally went downtown to go to the clubs during a mainly black/ethnic/whatever you feel is more PC to say car show event. The only thing that annoyed me about that was all the traffic. Oh..and the porn playing on nearly every tv in every car. srsly lol
Being sicilian, and therefore having seriously darker hair (EVERYWHERE) than most the beautifully fair hair/skinned gilrs in my classes growing up, I constantly got alienated, or worse singled out. (one boy actually felt like pointing out in front of the whole class that I was hairier than HIM!
(I have been shaving my arms and legs ever since). I have also been called derogatory things for italians too (by one of my ex friends family members, and by one of my ex boy friends moms)
Like wop, guinnie (sp?), etc
my favorite came from my ex boyfriends mom though. She said "thats what you get for dating her, she aint definitely aint anglo-saxon" Really? and king george doesnt rule england anymore either...
I think especially online where people do not always personally know one another or know the tone of voice things are being said in, people can get offended more or find a reason to be offended. If you do get offended just don't bother with them. why draw more attention to it?
jenn, that story was hilarious.
panties on the ground, panties on the ground, lookin like fool with ur panties on the ground.

Ha ha ha ha ha couldnt have said it better :) and my best friend is also Sicilian and I have seen her completely abused in school for her dark hair everywhere :( they called her Rafeke (sp? the monkey from Lion King) almost every day...
I dont think anyone here is perfect but I dont think we are racists. We are a multi cultural family dealing with the struggle and pain of Obesity...period. Addiction and pain knows no color so stop giving that crap power!

lol my friends that were with me were calling me "whitie in the red cavalier" for weeks after that.
Regarding the hair thing, the names can get horribly mean. Especially when they are coming at an age where you're body is developing and you are probably already having self esteem issues and comparing yourself to the other girls around you. Add to that that I have always been the chick with huge boobs and it was either comments about ginormous boobies or comments about the arm hair (funny thing is most the other girls had equal amount s of hair...it was just blonde...damn *****es ! LOL)
thats so horrible they called her that ! I would have punched em.
I am secretly hoping the body hair falls out after surgery and not the hair on my head... if only i were that lucky.
my mom had a thyroid issue that caused her to lose her body hair (i called her a lucky ***** and got smacked)
I agree that we are a big multicultural family from different walks of life and different backgrounds, Jenn certainly wasnt coming off as stereotyping anyone, if anything the comments about her seemed to stereotype her into being a clueless offensive white girl, which given her background she explained is not the case.
