What weight loss means to me:

Feeling younger than my age (36) instead of feeling 70.
Feeling like I can get through the day.
Feeling like I can work the additional 30 or so years I have before I can retire. (If not longer, LOL)
Not feeling like an outcast.
Not being ignored.
Not being ashamed to be seen in public.
Not being the biggest person at work, on the plane, in my life.
Feeling beautiful for the first time in many years.
Not having to make excuses for myself, to myself.
Being able to face the "woman" in the mirror.

LOVE THIS TOPIC!!!

What does Weight lost me to me:

-feeling better about myself
-shopping in regular clothing stores
-not being afraid to go places and do things
-fitting better in the world (the world is NOT made for obese people, sadly)
-walking more than 50feet without being exhausted
-more energy
-happiness
-feeling sexy once in awhile
-buying clothes because I like them not because just because they fit
-buying tighter fitting clothes that show off my curves not ones that hide the fat rolls
-cameras are still scary, but not as much as before
-biking is fun, not painful
-learning healthier habits so I can teach my kids without looking like a hypacrit
-believing I actually am healthy, not just a healty fat person
-food is not the enemy, I am
-going to the beach and not being stared at and also not being scared of walking through the sand (that was hard work before, can't wait to hit the beach this year and see if it is easier)
-the thought of riding my bike around Mackinaw Island sounds like fun, not torture
-pretty much doing anything but sitting and eating sounds enjoyable now instead of tortrure.
-hearing my hubby call me "sexy mamma" and actually believe he means it :)

The list could go on and on and on!!

Oh my gosh!  It means EVERYTHING to me!!  I feel as though I have lived the last 42 years of my life (from 9 to 51) with a big ol' asterisk next to my name:  MlkPas, smart, accomplished, successful, good person.*

*FAT AND UGLY

And losing weight has made that asterisk go away so that I can finally be the person I've always wanted to be, without having to think about my weight and food issues every single frickin' frackin' minute of every single frickin' frackin' day.

I swear, it's been like a miracle.

I'm 5'2" and 55 years old.  VSG 3/17/10

For me:

Being comfortable in my own skin.
Being able to hike and see nature up close again..
Keep up with my fit husband, or out hike him like I used to!
Feeling sexy and pretty again, not fat uncordinated and frumpy.
Being able to enjoy my body, feel great, strong & flexible.
Feeling like I fit in the world, just a normal person again.
Being up for any activity, canoeing, tubing, whatever- just being able to say SURE! Without having to think.
Hopefully escaping the family curse of diabetes, and living a longer healthier life.
Having a ton of energy, and still some leftover to share with my husband at the end of the day!
Feeling my age or younger, not feeling like I've got one foot in the grave!

Great post!

I'm not there yet, having just been sleeved, but I hope it means I will escape all the heart problems and HBP that has plagued my dad's family, I was truly scared that I would end up in the hospital with a heart attack and having to know it was due to my weight. I am so thankful to have (hopefully) dodged that bullet.

I hope it means I get to see my grandkids and great grandkids.

I hope it means it can go to the Andes (11,000 ft elev) and Rocky Mountains (9,000 ft elev) this summer and not struggle.

I hope it means I will fit into some super cute clothes again.

I hope it means i am more confident and fun.

I hope I will be a better example to my kids.

I hope my foot shrinks because it is veeeeeeerrrrrrryyy long. Lol

I hope I end up with loads more energy and loads more accomplished.

I hope it means really great eating habits for life.

Great post. I have enjoyed reading everyone else's lists! KCChris, I don't know if it's because you just look young to me, like my oldest son, but by the end of your list I wanted to give you a big ol' hug! It's gonna happen for you!
Mom to 8, looking forward to a healthy future!

What weight loss means to me

1)  I will be able to beat my Uncle Pete to the buffet table - but now I don't want to.

2)  I might beat the spry old woman on the other end of the subway car to the last seat (they usually move like hundred-leg centipedes and beat you there)

3) Not having paramedics on speed-dial when I climb a flight of stairs.

4)  Not having to roll over to a piece of furniture to help me get up off the floor.

5)  No one will feel sorry for me that I'm so tired and get me a bottle of water from the fridge when I can do it so easily myself (damn you, sleeve!)

6)  The Ernest Borgnine look-alike at the post office finds me enchanting.

7)  That my daughter looked at John Travolta playing Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, then looked at me and said "You're thinner than her now - I mean him."  (Thanks, sweetie!  Go play in traffic now)
