Birth control with the sleeve
WARNING- This is a question about female cycles and birthcontrol with the sleeve, so dont read further if you don't want to hear about that sort of stuff.
Hey all,
I have a few questions- I am headed to my GYNO tomorrow to get on birthcontrol. I am a month and a half out and am trying to find a BC that is good with the sleeve. Any suggestions?
Also befoe my surgery I would have very irregular periods- at least 6 months at a time without having one and they would be very heavy and painful. Since Surgery I have been on my period for about 3 weeks now. Its prety light- not at all what it used to be but it has been so long. Is this normal? Anyone else have this happen? I am also gonna talk to the gyno about this tomorrow too. Thanks for the input!

I've asked the question a couple of times to various doctors because I've read on here that the pill is not as effective after the sleeve (no idea if that is true info). According to my surgeon and gyno, it will be sufficient.
The only warning they give is that with the antibiotics they give you in the hospital, the efficacy may be decreased that month.
Then again, last time I had an antibiotic prescription filled the pharmacist told me they were getting away from telling people that antibiotics cause BC failure.
So I'm wondering which one of these fools is going to raise my tiny malnourished baby when I get pregnant 3 months out?
OY! Please let me know what your gyno tells you!

I have gone thru menopause previous to surgery and since all the fat we burn is full of hormones in the beginning i had 3 little periods. I have read on a few different vsg information packets that because of all of the hormones, women are especially fertile and that in the losing phase its recommended to use an altenative (extra) form of bc. These are the three links i always share full of info re/the sleeve and i'm sure i've read this in here. Hope this helps :o) jeani

I use Lo-Seasonique and I love love love it. You get 4 periods a year (and mine are superlight/non-existent). and I'm on the "lo" version (which means lower estrogen) because I have chronic migraine with aura and my GYN was worried about estrogen-containing BCPs as there is a supposed increase risk of stroke if you have aura. Whatev.
A heads up though...depending on your insurance, it might be expensive. I pay $80 copay for a 3 mo. supply. But it's worth it to me.

I believe weight loss or gain of only 10 lbs is allowed with an IUD unless things have changed since the old days lol. After my last I got them to tie my tubes since they were in there anyways doing a c-section. But defintely double up because I am sure there are things that can happen when your hormones are changing so quickly like this.
