Subway -- cheap eats !!

I am a social worker.  I drive all over, and can literally be in my car going from house to house, city to city all day long.  I forgot my lunch today.

I stopped into a Subway, and asked if I could just have a scoop of chicken salad.  Yup.  ONE DOLLAR --- served with whatever vegies I wanted.  Got cucumbers and tomatos.  Served in a soup bowl to go.  With a knife and fork.  I cut up the cucumbers and tomatoes, and ate it on the road !!!!

It was really really tasty.
Not an every day thing, but really easy to eat, filling, cheap, and these days it's almost as easy to find a Subway as it is the Golden Arches !

Such a great idea.  There is one on my way to work and since I go in at 3:00 p.m. every day, this just might do for dinner now and then.

I surprised you get good service. I went to one subway store in mi and asked for a chicken breast sandwich without the bread and wanted it in a bowl and was told I couldn't have a bowl because everything was inventoried so I ended up with a chicken breast and veggies wrapped up in the their sandwich wrap it was a mess when I got home. Last thurs. I went to another store and asked for a child's chicken sandwich and got told we can't sell hot sandwiches that way.I did get my sandwhich though. I asked for an address for the corp. office because I wanted to let them know their stores were not sleeve friendly. I got a phone # to call. The manager also told me diabetics had problems getting what they need too. I will be contacting the subway stores.

Good for you.

You know, they do those commercials about Jason losing all that weight by eatin' at Subway, and then they treat you like this???  I guess it is a good thing "Jason" wasn't low carb.  Let us know how it turns out with the corp office, okay?

wonder if they are individually owned.... I would have raved until I got what I wanted !!! Afterwards, I was thinking of turkey and cheese, with tomato and then wrap it upand fat free dressing to dip it into !

I am usually so good about packing my lunch and healthy snacks for the road, but everyonce in a while, I just plain forget it !
