Thanks for sharing your story and new photo. You're doing an awesome job!!!

This might give you a more accurate goal.. you look like you are much closer to being done. Of course this is just my opinion based on looking at your photos.

Thank you so much for good idea. I've been really torn about where to set my goal. I'm 5'5" and the top of my BMI is 150. I am big boned...literally. My hands are wide and long even after losing a bunch of weight. I take a size 9.5 shoe. Delicate I ain't. I'm not small framed and even at my thinnest, I still had a large frame. It's the heavy German farm woman heritage, I tell ya.
I know that a BMI is not necessarily a very accurate measure of the right fat percentage for an individual. I had a pinch test done at the gym by my trainer, and I thought he was out of his mind when he computed everything and told me my perfect weight should be right around 166. Maybe this is a better goal. I'm not sure how much stock I put into a pinch test, though. This is 16 pounds over my highest BMI range, and so I'm not sure what to pick.
I've heard about the Bod Pod test and have been told it's pretty accurate. I need to spend the bucks and get the thing done I think. It's about $125 but I think it may be worth it to know where I need to end up and what to work toward.
Hugs to ya Rose!

I use a special scale that measures body fat percentage, and I've had a BodPod done too.. guess what.. they said the same thing. :) Although I don't think the scales are SUPER DUPER accurate, I think they give you a general idea.
I'm like you also.. big hands and feet and lots of muscle (I wear a size 13 shoe girly.. make your 9.5's look itty bitty :) and my Grandma was German.. also big german farmer stock. Just my lean body mass alone weighs 138 pounds currently, so if I followed the weight charts I'd put my body fat percentage so low I'd stop menstruating. Currently to get to a normal body fat percentage without losing any lean body mass I'd only have to get to 192 pounds.
Also years of obesity have made my bones much denser. So you just can't trust those plain weight scales as they say nothing about your body composition and the body composition is what matters.
So I'd definitely recommend you go get one of those body fat percentage scales (cheaper than the bodpod and you can use again and again) and go by that rather than the scale. I have an older model Tanita brand body fat percentage scale but it still works great. I'd recommend you look into this one, which is a mere $50 on Amazon:
Hope that helps and hugs...Start weight: 388, Current Weight: 185, Goal Weight: 180, Weight Lost: 203 lbs
