Fish, tuna, chicken. Those are my staples and I get all my protein from food (have since 2 weeks post-op). You can do it!!!

I only drink proti 15 lemon flavor you mix it with water and it is great. My doctors office has it and you can order it on line. This is the only protein drink I can stand it comes in other flavors also.

Now for your hair my hair was falling out like crazy to but it had nothing to do with my protein my iron was so low that is why my hair was falling out. My doctor upped my iron and my hair stopped falling out.

They say the first 3 months your hair could be falling out from the stress of the surgery.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I actually eat Pilgrims Pride Blazin Chunks. It is breaded chicken but I bake them at 550 for about 20 minutes and squeeze any oil out before eating. They have 19 grams of protein for 4 small chunks, 15ish carbs, ok on the fat....and I can eat 4 in about 30 minutes pretty easily. They haven't reduced my weight loss at all so far and they taste great....without those I would never make it. i haven't had a protein drink since about week 2. Breakfast daily is 1 egg with 2 pieces of either lean bacon or turkey sausage. Lunch is some type of meat, about 4 ounces eaten over a few hours. Dinner is 4 of those chunks almost daily. Sometimes I'll do faijitas or like tonight I had a taco. There really seems to be a good variety that I can eat.

I eat baked salmon almost every day. I spray a glass baking dish with oil spray, wash the fish and place it skin side down into the dish. Preheat to 350. Then in a bowl I combine some teriyaki sauce, dijon mustard and grated horseraddish. Mix and cover the fish with the sauce/marinade. Then bake until the fish flakes with a fork... 20-30 minutes depending on how much fish I'm cooking. YUM! Low in carbs (only what's in the marinade), high in protein, and contains the good kinds of fats and oils that we need.

Also, I've been making omlettes almost every day, and they're good for two-three meals, depending on how much you can stomach. I buy a container of liquid egg-whites instead of using whole eggs... I have high cholesterol and have stopped taking my meds for it. Spray a non-stick pan with spray oil, on med to low heat. Measure out 1Cup eggwhites liquid and add to pan. Coo****il almost 100% done (no more loose liquid), then add 2 cut up low fat string cheeses and some salt/pepper. Flip over half of the egg to form the omlette, turn up the heat to crisp both sides, flipping once. This I then cut at least in half. 20gm protein per half. Makes good leftovers and can be eaten without silverware!

Protein is NOT going to keep your hair from falling it. All it will do is help with regrowth, and even then, it's a normal side effect of weight loss surgery, actually it can happen after any major trauma your body endures.

I know it's nice to think that eating more and more protein is going to make it stop, but medically, it's a total falsehood that protein consumption will stop your hair loss.
