what did u eat the night before ur surgery?
Depends on your doc's plan- follow it!
Mine was a week of very lo-carb (not liquids) as a pre-op, and the night before surgery I was allowed anything I wanted for dinner including a drink so long as I stopped eating before 10pm. No liquids/foods after 10.. I had a great dinner and a margarita at the hotel.

His team is great, you will love it (as much as you can ever love being in a hospital!) & yes, he said there is no reason to #1 put people on a liquid only diet just to use up the glycogen stores (makes the liver less slick), and #2, considering the normal stomach empties in 4-6hrs, he has no restriction except the firm 10pm rule.. you will likely not get into the OR before noon.. Considering how long he's been doing surgery, I think if he found food in there he'd revise his pre-op plan! Good luck!!
i was also ordered to do liquids only the day before surgery so it was apple juice, broth, tea and such. Can't even remember what my last real meal was before surgery. I did have a nice prime rib one night a couple of months before as that was one thing I just wanted to do. My pre op diet was not the two week liquid thing but just lose 15 lbs however I chose with help from dietician as needed. So i just cut back and did that over time.
I am surprised your doc would let you have a meal the night before surgery. most do want you on liquids and many have you drink some stuff to clean you out. check with your doc. DO NOT go off the pre op diet the night before. Junk in your tummy will not be good during surgery. Diane

From what Dr A explained to me, they say NPO at least 12-14 hours in advance of the surgery (it generally takes a maximum of 6 hrs for your stomach to empty, usually 3-5). Since they are not operating on the intestines, a bowel prep is unneeded, and the stomach is clear of all foods and liquids by they time they get you to the OR. Every surgeon has a different plan, I just asked mine to explain his to me so I understood the why's of what he was or was not doing.
I was on a liquid diet for two weeks before my surgery.. The night before I started my pre op liquid diet, my family and I went out to outback steak house for dinner.. Other then that, the night before my surgery I was on liquids.. Until noon the day before I could ahve protein shakes, after noon, I could only have clear liquids.

My surgeon had me do a magnesium citrate bowel cleanse on Saturday for my Monday surgery (I assume to ensure nothing was hanging out in my stomach). After I drank that, the only thing I could have was clear liquids and nothing after midnight on Sunday.

If you are in question of what to eat the night before surgery then I must assume that your nutritionist did not educate you fully or it slipped their mind. I do not mean that to be rude, hurtful, disrespectful or nasty towards you.
The thought of eating solid foods the night before getting the majority of your stomach removed scares my pants off!!
I personally would not risk it.
When I had my crap band it was liquids only, and that was just for the stupid band.
I wish you all the luck, health and happiness in the world.
On my way
