SparkPeople vs. MyFitness Pal

So I'm trying to decide which one of these two to sign up with to start tracking my intake.  I've gotta start my preop diet by next week and I want to be in the swing of things before surgery.

Has anyone out there compared/contrasted both of these sites?  Was there a reason you chose one over the other?  If you didn't compare but are using one of them (or another similar site) what do you like most and least about whichever site you are currently using?

Thanks for the info.!

I love MyFitnessPal because I can use the app on my phone anywhere AND I can log on if I am home. I think it is super easy to use and I have found every single food item in the search feature. I am biased.. LOL

I haven't compared the two sites, but I use myfitnesspal and love it. I'm trying to be more accountable in my nutrition, so if anyone wants to be friends on there, look me up. My user name is Johnso53.

I don't know if I tried sparkpeople, but i tried about 10 others and I love and use myfitnesspal. Ive had no problem finding any/every brand, and its easy to log various portion sizes. I love the nutrient break down option too.

I tried SparkPeople and just didn't care for the format. I've been usung MyFitness Pal for almost 2 years now and I've been really happy with the app for my phone (Android). It's super easy to customize too.

Another one I like is called fatsecret.com (hate the name). They have a good community and I like their format. I don't use it now because their phone app doesn't sync right and it wasn't as user friendly. Other than that it's OK.

We all have our own style and since they're free, try them out and decide for yourself which one you like. Good luck :)

I love Sparkpeople, especially since they recently changed their format a bit. I've been using it for about a year and it works for me. If you have a smart phone, they also have an app that you can use, so you're not always tied to a computer. I like the daily e-mails about fitness and nutrition.

Logging your food is one of the best things that you can do, besides exercise.

I am also a myfitnesspal.com user. I love how I can custom create meals and recipes for easy tracking. The phone app is great.
