Where Are The Tall People (5'10+)?

I ask because you know we carry weight differently.

People NEVER believed I weighed over 350 lbs because I'm 6ft tall and because I don't have a really big stomach.

I see shorter folks losing 30 lbs and it makes a real difference, but on me? I have to lose at least 40-50lbs to drop ONE size on the bottom. I'm very bottom heavy, so when I lose weight, it comes from everywhere else first.

I want to lose 180lbs to be 180lbs which is a good weight for a large framed woman of my height. I do have broad shoulders and a very wide pelvic region. My surgeon even said to me "Well, you'll probably never be a size 6, but..."

Anyone else have similar tall people, big framed struggles?

If you're over 5'10, women especially, how many lbs did you have to lose to start seeing real differences? When did people start noticing your weight-loss in places other than your face?

I am 5'9" and I find that too. That I lose 34 lbs, and I have lost in my wrist, fingers and face. My stomach is still sagging..

Or like you I lose weight and drop a pant size.. I am not big on top, just in the mid section..

Im 5'9 and people do not think I am as heavy as I Am...which is a good thing in my book. I really do not want to be smaller than 160lbs because that would just look weird on me...

I don't want to be super thin either!
Anything less than 170 and I would probably start looking sickly, which is not what I want at all.
My mom was 302 at 5'10 and went down to 160 and her doc told her she could stand to gain a few lbs. She went up to 175 and looked "normal".

I'm 5'11 and have lost almost 50lbs, and I can not tell with my clothes fitting any differently. Maybe a little less snug.. I carry most my weight in my gut though. My feet, wrists seem smaller to me... Maybe I notice a little in my face, but I am only a month out.

I am 6'1" and my surgery weight was 368.  I think it took a good 50-60 pounds before anyone noticed....or before I dropped a size.  Sorta pathetic that your weight can fluctuate that much...but I suppose that's how we let it get out of hand and gain so much.

I have lost 200 pounds.  I just went shopping with my husband and he was picking out things for me....it is so surreal to buy size 8.  I am not sure I ever recall wearing that size and I didn't have a weight problem until the last 12 years.

I have been getting comments recently about being too skinny.  I think I will likely end up in upper 170's and be very happy maintaining but was also very pleased with how I looked and felt in the 190's.

I am thankful for being tall and being able to carry my weight well.

I never told anyone about my surgery.

It took a while for anyone to notice. When they did notice, I got a couple of comments:
"You look like you've lost 20 lbs."
In fact I had lost 80 pounds.

More recently I got a comment:
"You look like you've lost 80 lbs."
In fact I lost nearly 100.

I'm 5-9.

Yes it does take a while for it to be noticed. I found it quite interesting this time because of not telling anyone about the surgery and not mentioning that I was watching what I was eating.

yep. My legs are very thick and I will probably have to stay in the Big/Tall store even when I hit goal. I'm bottom heavy too. Have lordosis which is malcurvature of the spine so my butt sticks out. have had several overal compliments on weight loss without specific mention of face.

I'm 5' 11" and like several of the previous posters, I carry my weight in my mid section, so I know that I will need to lose 30-50 pounds before I can really change sizes. However, since surgery I have noticed that my tight jeans are not so tight anymore.
