crisps - put shredded cheese in little circles on parchment paper (I added a little cracked red pepper for more kick)...a good enameled dinner plate will work too but not as well...microwave until crispy...about 2 minutes

dip - sautee 1/4 yellow onion and 2 cloves of garlic, throw in a pinch of salt, a pinch of crushed red pepper, 1/4 cup of chicken stock, one can of rinsed and drained black beans...simmer about 10 minutes...puree in food processor or blender...top crisps...garnish with sour cream and tomaos if desired....EASY PEASY!!!

They are pre-op worthy and much more filling than they look...the cheese crisps add a bulkiness to the meal that you don't get with chips.

soooo gonna try these this weekend!  i've been making my cheese crisps in the oven.  hadn't tried the microwave.  can't wait!  they are staples of mine.  i've figured them to be about 4-5 gms protein each, depending on cheese and how heavy the pinch is.  :)

thanks for sharing!

So much faster in the microwave!!! I use a cutting board under the parchment to make it easier to get in and out with out losing and cheese.

The whole recipe sounds so yummy I might try it tonight!

I'm pre-op and trying to get a handle on how much food it will really take to fill me up after surgery.

So if you don't mind me asking, how big are those cheese crisps.  They look maybe 3 inches across?

And  will you eat all of those as a meal?  And does it fill you up and for how long?

(Sorry for all the questions!)
