Things you thought of saying but didn't...How'd you lose weight

You know when the questions start rolling in about your weightloss, have you ever considered responding with something like?

"What do you mean weightloss?"
"I had the baby"
"I suffered from a prolonged bee sting allergy"
"How'd I lose weight?  Done more lines than a barcode"
"I ran to Cape Horn"

Of course, when asked I typically respond that I eat very little (if it's someone with whom I don't care to share my medical history and whose opinion I don't really want to leave myself open to), or mor recently I am better about telling people about my surgery if I think it will benefit them and/or they'll be supportive.

Perfect topic! I'm headed back to see a bunch of friends who have NO idea I had surgery and some of them I haven't seen in 3 years. Yeah, it will be odd. I don't plan on telling them about my surgery, so I'm gonna need some advice here too.

Someone had noticed based on a FB pic and mentioned it to one of my BFFs who knows about my surgery. Said I looked like I had lost a lot of weight and I looked wonderful. and then asked her how. I don't know why the HOW is so impt.

Well - I personally don't think it is anyone business - BUT I just told people by portion control and exercise.  Which is true.  I only told a hand full of people.  No one in my family knows but my husband.  I just think it's your decision and you don't need anyone approval.  Good Luck!

I was wondering myself, what would I tell everyone when they see the "new me" I have been over weight all my life so would anyone really believe me if i said I went on a strict diet?? I don't want ppl in my business so I doubt I will tell anyone that I had VSG that includes my family because they will be the biggest headaches!! think I will keep this between my immediate family and my OH fam

I thank people for noticing, and then compliment them, and turn the conversation. Works like a charm. If they come back to question my weight, I again thank them and turn the conversation away from myself. If I have to do it more than three or four times, I say the same thing and add, "the usual, diet and exercise."

Usually after the third "Thank you for noticing...." someone else will say; " I think that's all you're going to get..."

Acknowledge the compliment, and move on....
