I mean I posted questions when I first started, Im sure we all do. I don't wanna be a meanie about that part. I still try to answer questions cause it really helped me formulate my plan but I am amazed at how much some post-ops don't know and I am sure that has a lot to do with inexperienced surgeons. Im sure for a lot of people, its about insurance. I used my insurance and went with who I was referred to as I could not pay out of pocket. I was lucky to be referred to a Dr who had done hundreds of VSGs some seem to get the short end of the stick there. I saw people who were successful and tried to use their practices and tricks along with my Drs plan. I am amazed by some eating plans or the idea that WLS can fix an eating disorder. I was told that was why I had to meet that therapist, WLS can not fix your head and that had to be fixed before my Dr. would touch me if it was found that was an issue. Why would a Dr. not work on that before setting someone up to either fail or struggle like that? I don't know. But ya, if you do what your told the weight will come off. If you find your Dr. is telling you something that A.) doesnt make any ******g sense or B.) is not working find a support group or talk to some folks on here who have had great supportive, educated doctors and ask them what worked for them.

Flame!! Lmao.. Seriously though.. I know my out of left perspective isn't the most welcome here.. But after all this time I feel like I *should* be welcome to be open about my journey and my different path. Just because it won't work for the majority doesn't mean it shouldn't have a voice..

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

It would never be a flame from you.........

In the most "tactful" way....when I use the word "Most" I think of you and brownblonde and several others (boscogirl) here on this board that have "done it" in a more "normal" way.

I can only have respect for those that can do it any which way. You lose the weight.....no argument only respect.

For myself ...in maintenance..... I strive for more "normal" food groupings and although I'm creeping at it trying to find my food tolerances.....I strive to eat like you and brownblonde!!!

Although I would always recommend....lose the weight first....than experiment.

Your voice needs to be heard because it should be known that some people may have alternatives.

From what I remember...you have a very open/liberal way of eating, using quantity as your main priority. You eat most foods but your daily calorie intake is in check in a natural (vsg) way.

The reason for my post was to create awareness to newbies and those that struggle.

I think you would be the first one to tell a person that has been trying to do it more your way and it wasn't working.....to try a more conventional VSG WL eating plan for a while to see if it works....As we wish all WL patients to lose the weight !!!!

For the record... I am a stillfawn fan.....you done did it and you did it your way.

But please tell me that in "General" my observations are pretty close????

If I'm wrong...please correct me !!!!!

Trust me, I am a Frisco fan too!  I am very liberal, and I do always tell people this is what I do, try it if you want, but it doesn't work for everyone. Thing is, although I agree with most of your observations, I cannot help but to wonder how many people would lose the same and have an easier maintenance with a more liberal approach from the beginning... if that makes any sense.

I totally hear what your sayin......

And I don't want to discount any ones efforts.....

But.....for me...it went down like this........

I was playing my last card......if this doesn't work....I'm Royally ******Game Over.....Life Over.....

I was on the doorstep to many health issues in my family history.......

I took my opinion out of the equation..... when your 0-35.....never winning the life long battle with obesity........

I put myself into the hands of Science........found the best surgeon.......what ever he told me was the law......my curiosity and opinion (weight loss wise) didn't matter.....it was actually very refreshing....I put all the pressure on my surgeon.....

So I hear what your sayin.....My opinion is that WLS is a process that you commit, conform and comply.....lose the weight first.....than see what actual tolerances you have in maintenance.

I did not want to leave anything to chance........needed a tried and true method.

What other choices do you have if WLS doesn't work.....????

**Standard disclaimer....This is my opinion and truth...It worked for me....Not saying it's for everybody.....

I'm not new to OH,I've been on here since 09 but i've been researching weight loss since i was about 20,However my insurance only covered rny/lapband two year ago and honestly i wasn't ready mentally for surgery and i didn't want either one of them. When i saw my surgeon two years ago i knew that i wanted VSG from then but because my insurance wouldnt covered it ,I back out.So here i am and i will hopefully be having surgery next month.I can honestly say that i've learned so much from the vets.Things to look out for (3 week stall),how to get my water in.The amount of information is great,I know that everyone journey is different but i've appreciated all the information that i've gotten here.

I'm on a Everchanging journey.
