I don't know how I would ever have any idea what my protein intake is without using a tracker like myfitnesspal. I have used it every day since I came home from the hospital (should have started before as well) and it has been very enlightening. The way I see it, the surgery is one tool, this online tool is another, both are going to ensure that I am able to do my best with the investment I have made in this.

I took pre-natal vitamins because of the extra nitrients.  I also took biotin and mega red which is a pill with a large dose of omega 3's.  I found whne I did medifast and lost large quantities of weight fast that i lost hair and whne I reintroduced fats in to my body my hair loss stopped.  I have had very little if any hair loss.

Yes!! Definitely track your protein.. And your water.. And take your vites.. Losing hair is normal and common.. But not half your hair.. Take care of yourself hun..

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I agree with Still Fawn....

If your only gonna keep track of three things.....Protein, fluids and vitamins.....those would be them.....

Also, I took Biotin.... don't know if it did anything....it is said to help.....

Evie darlin...yer too late! Wait this out...Yer hair started to die the day you had VSG (the trigger!) just didn't show till 3 months out...(acute telogen effluvium, acute diffuse hair loss)

Hair Loss BEGINS             3-4 months post op
Hair Loss SLOWS             6-7 months post op    (new growth apparent!!)
Hair Loss STOPS              1 year to 18 months post op

Biotin won't do squat till the regrowth stage which is right around the corner for ya...soon yer hair thinnin will slow...by 9months out them new little hairs fill in them wide parts, receedin hair line...

My hair sheddin didn't COMPLETELY STOP till I was 13 months post op..when my WEIGHT LOSS STABILIZED....didn't matter how much protein I got in consistently, no matter what "hair" supplement I pumped, or whatever expensive shampoo, conditioner I put on my head! .

Lo level protein intake just EXACERBATES hair loss...you'll find the further out ya go...yer losin hair again...check that protein intake! bump it up and hair loss MAY slow down...or like me...protein intake is great...yer just in NORMAL hair sheddin phase.

What IS interestin...is supplementin with ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS!!
Omega 3s like krill (thee best)/fish, flaxseed
evening primrose or borage oil (GLAs)   more on my blog

I am so very thankful to everyone that has helped me with the hair loss problem. I am going to try to keep track of my protein, and other things that was suggested.
God Bless.
