*facepalm* ... love your food porn frisco & i generally agree with what you have to say, but i cant help but think ... if the stuff you see on here ****** you off ... why dont you stop reading it? thats what i did and if i catch myself rolling my eyes at a post i just close out oh and find something else to do... i know its frustrating when people are just plain uneducated but you cant save everybody you know...

eveeeery daaaay i see a post thats like "for the newbies", "be nice to newbies", "stall", "help it hurts", "what can i eat" and im at the point where im annoyed by both the newbies and the vets ... its like a freakin season of road rules

You are totally correct.....!!!!

I gotta learn to skim..... but I'm closer to rotating out than learning to skim.....

Ya see.... when I first started here just over 2 years ago.... you could help everybody......it was much tighter.....not any more....I am in taper off mode.....

My only real concern is when someone has a real chance of hurting them selves.....or trying to present something as good....when it's not. And don't get it confused with "My way is the only way" cause it's not..... I'm big fans of Still Fawn, brownblonde, boscogirl and a few others that did it way different..... but they lost the weight..... can't argue that!!!!

The bad thing about the "Be Nice to Newbies" thread and discussion.... Is Vets will just respond less as you have suggested and I have agreed.

For me, I have my list of Vets that I read up on (Frisco, you are one of 'em)  :). I haven't had my sleeve or even been approved yet, but I come here to get ALL the information I need to be as prepared and  successful as I possibly can.

However, I read a post several months ago that i will never forget, and want to pass along. There is a search box at the top of my screen..., and boy, do I use it.
I have only had to post one question out here regarding a heart condition that  I have, everything else i needed to know about i found by using that little search box!

I love reading post from vets because it give me insight to everything.I really don't post that often because I'm still in the pre-op,What i've learned is that the three week stall will happen.Protein first everything else second,Vitamins are key. There is so much that i learned from this board and I'm continuing to learn on a daily bases. When i went to my nutritionist appointment last week and we was talking she was extremely impressive with how much i knew.I told her that was because i spend a lot of time reading as much info from the Internet and the message boards here that i can get my hands on.So i just want to give ato the vets.

I'm on a Everchanging journey.

When I was new, more than 6 months before my sleeve, I read and read and read. I read back months and months of posts on all the boards.....I learned so much. I learned who gave exceptional advice, and who didn't....I learned who I wanted to "be like" and who wasn't my cuppa tea. . . . .

I kept my mouth closed and formulated ideas, and finally started to post and ask questions about those things I had not found an answer to.....

I post now, to encourage myself and to encourage others early-er on in the process than I am. I post to let those over 50 years old know that this CAN work for them, to let folks know that sometimes it's a slow road....and has many twists and turns. And can be wild ride too all at the same time !!!

You know Frisco, as usual you posted what I was thinking. I too read the post about being nice to newbies and thought about responding, but decided not to do it and see how it would develop. It seems that two years is about what most people are comfortable putting back into this community. This board has been blessed with some vets that have stayed longer, but many of them don't post very much. I find that I post less and less now and that's mostly because life is knocking louder and louder on my front door. I don't really think any of the vets have been especially harsh to any newbies. I think we have been direct at times and maybe we didn't sugar coat our advice or observation, but the spirit was always to try to get information across and maybe make people think about the seriousness of this surgery. I am encouraged by many posters that do get it and they are way on their way to being very successful vets. This site will need them and I am glad they are here. What keeps me coming back is that every once in a while I really feel like I helped someone and then the time seems so very worth it. In addition, there are some fantastic people on the board that are fully committed to making a life time commitment to their health. I am humbled by their dedication and I still learn from their experience. I know you are almost at a point that you need to move on. I would hope that you will continue to look in on us and that I will always be able to reach out to you to share a new experience or to help me solve a problem. I promise to do all my own research first. :) I have learned a great deal from you, and to be honest, I just plain like you and your no nonsense style of communication. Whether you are here or not, I will always consider you my friend.

I edited to add that basically, I feel like my time here is also limited and I think two years is more or less what most vets put in. I totally understand where Frisco is coming from.
