Day Seven and craving REAL FOOD!!
Hi all!
I am on Day Seven post-op and feel really good. No pain, just some achiness in my back and weird sensations in my stomach when I sit/stand/lay down. I've been improving each day with my liquid and protein intake. My problem is that I am craving REAL food. I am sick of the sweet tasting protein drinks and water additives. I would kill for a piece of turkey or bite of bread right now. I am not hungry in my stomach, but I miss the salty, savory tastes in my mouth. Any suggestions to get me through the next week??

Call and ask your doctor first. I took some of my chicken broth I had made before surgery and took a can of chicken gumbo Progressive soup and strained it. Then I combined 1/4 cup of my chicken broth with 1/4 cup of the broth from the chicken gumbo.....It was delicious. I did eat it very very slow because of the little bit of spice that we've been away from now for a few weeks, but oh my goodness, it was good. My dear hubby loves this concept because he gets the goodies from the soup that are left over.
Good luck. :)
Good luck. :)
Good luck to you getting through this first two weeks, mine was a killer. I wanted to eat regular food so bad and I was so tired of the sweet stuff it was making me gag just thinking about drinking it. I can say that having a friend stay with me these first couple weeks helped keep me occupied. I had some posters I had bought to color with markers to keep me busy. Just take it one day at a time, it is so hard but you will make it. If I can get through it anyone can. It will start to annoy you to the point of being angry but try the broth it does help alot to have a different flavor! I was 3 weeks post op this last monday and I feel so much better now that I have more of a variety. Just keep your chin up, remind yourself that this diet wont be forever and take it one day at a time.
First, congrats on your surgery !!!!
Don't even think of eating solid foods!!!!.......get it outta your head !!!!
Turkey and chicken should be the last protiens you re-introduce into your diet.......
