Low Vitamin D?
I'm working on that currently.. Mine was on the very low end of the normal range. I had been taking 2000iu of D3, plus the D3 in my calcium (1000iu) daily before the last labs.. I now have added an additional 4000iu a day.. so total per day is 7000iu.. which is likely still too low to get it in the upper end of the range prob need to bump up to 10,000iu, but I'll retest myself in 4 or 5 mo and see where I am.
Here's Vitalady's VSG vit dosing table, 20,000iu D3 a day..http://www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/ProgramAGB&VSG2-2 010.pdf
I'd guarantee you'd bump up the numbers with this level.. Her way of doing it is supplement, test and reduce as needed to have great labs rather than under-supplement and try to correct deficiencies. I kinda fall in the middle.
Mayo clinic states "Safety research supports an upper limit of a dose of vitamin D to be more than or equal to 250 micrograms daily (10,000 IU of vitamin D3)."
edited, math error.. there's a reason I avoid math.

Thanks! Mine was below normal, so I have some making up to do LOL I just ordered the one that vitalady reccomends, the 50,000 iu. I figure if I take that every other day that will get me to "normal", I have a scrip to be tested again in a month and if it's too much I will just back off a bit and adjust from there.
Oh and thanks again for the netrition info, my calcium got here the day after I ordered it! I am very impressed with their customer service!

They are a good company to order from, and they have my fav protein "treat" for those times you just have to have a nibble- the Oh Yeah bars or wafers..
Yeah, I'd have to check.. but I believe my D was 39 or 34 (range starts at 30..) and that was after supplementing for several months at 3000iu a day so I was prob out of range too!

My OB checked my Vit D levels when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2010 and it was low then. She put me on 50000iu/week.
The Surgeons office gave me the list of things I need to take and there two things with Vit D in them, since my level is still a little low. They suggest the bariatric advantage, so one of their multivitamin with Vit D (1000iu), and Calcium Citrate with Vit D (1200-1500 mg/day). Along with B12 and B1 for three months after surgery.
I am guessing then they will check my levels and go from there. Hope that info helps.

I was told to take a calcium/vit d suppliment - called caltrate or citrical or something like that - it has both in it LOL You can buy it at any drug store and look for the PETITES - they are a smaller pill size!
