Iam currently on my 4th month of my 6th month supervised diet. I am pretty much a newby on this site. I read it faithfuly every night. One of the things I dont recall seeing is, how long is the VSG surgery?

Thanks,

I think my surgery was about 1:15 or maybe an 1:30? Somewhere in that ballpark.

Love the avatar. Ah, those were the days.

Each doc is different, but from the seminar I went to the Sleeve was the shortest surgery - can't remember the exact amount of time.

I think they said I was in the OR about 2- 2.5 hours I believe.

With my surgeon, he said it was supposed to last around an hour and a half... It endedu p taking 3 hours, because aparently I was dehyddrated when I went into surgery..? That's what they said.. I don't understand how that happens because I drank just as much pre-surgery as i do now, butt.... I dunno. Thats what people said. I didnt really pay attention to what time it was when i woke up in recovery, i was in there a few hours though... I just remember getting to my actual room at 2pm. i got the meds and fell asleep literally in less than 30 seconds, in the OR around 8am.

For a surgeon skilled in doing Sleeves... about 45 min. tops. But usually takes an hour and a half. Mine was 2 hours due to my Godzilla size tummy... >: D

I'm not sure of the exact time, but I was wheeled into the OR about 8:30 or so, and woke up in recovery at 10:15, so the surgery was under 2 hours.

I was wheeled into the OR at about 7:45 and the first time I 'remember' looking at the clock in the recovery area was 9:15....so I'd assume my surgery took about an hour or so with about 30 minutes of 'recovery' before I remember anything....the next 3 hours were fuzzy since I was telling them my chest hurt and they were flippin out trying to tell me I wasn't having a heart attack, which I knew but couldn't put into words because they kept pushing morphine while I was trying to explain to them that my throat was burning in my chest....

I don't know about that 45 minutes tops thing...I don't think I've seen any OR times that low.

90 minutes seems about average.   At the same time you don't want someone who takes forever, super speedy isn't necessarily the best either.

They started my procedure at 8:15 and I was in recovery around 10:30 (at least that was the first time I looked at the clock!).  But I also had a hiatal hernia repair and lymph node removal.
