Frisco-My Biggest Secret to Goal and Beyond
OK...... Lotta new people here.....That haven't heard my sermon....
- Lotta new surgeons with some very funky surgeries going on. (not a topic for now)
- Lotta questionable eating plans going on. (not a topic for now)
I used to say...... "Follow your surgeons plan"
Don't say that anymore....not for a long time. Some people don't even have a plan and some people have plans/nutritionists that follow textbook eating for normies.
My number one biggest tip for ANY VSG Patient regardless of what sort of sleeve you got. I say that because the VSG is NOT STANDARDIZED and most sleeves are not created equal.
For any Sleever:
NEVER eat till your FULL..... Eating till full is how we got fat.
Eat fixed/measured amounts of food that is UNDER your sleeves capacity. Learn to eat till satisfied, not full. You will be surprised on how little food it takes to be satisfied.
Eat meals in the 3oz. range. A deck of cards is about 3oz. of food. Get used to visualizing your portions. Your not always going to have measuring devices with you.
This is especially important for the folks with larger sleeves. The larger the sleeve the more stretchy tissue is retained.
The only way to stretch your sleeve is constant over eating......The only way to preserve your restriction is to not put internal pressure on your sleeve......the sleeve is a very high pressure system...... you don't have that big stretchy fundus anymore.
Not only can your stretch your sleeve laterally.....It can elongate also.....
I have the same restriction now at 2 years than at about 4-5 months out. Dense protein..... about 2oz. is very satisfying.
Sure...I've over eatin before.....most times by accident or a new food. I've had the foamies about 5 times......4 of those were in the first year. I have never puked.
And guess what....if your constantly trying to eat till your full and eating varied amounts of food.....your probably not keeping an accurate count on your calories/intake.
So that's my big secret.........
Only a few of you are going to grasp this concept and practice it....that's just the way it goes......
Hope this helps.....

Thanks Friso, your experience and positive outcome is a fine example for any one of us to follow. I am 3 weeks out and look for you posts daily just because you seem to tell it like it is. This morning is my first scrambled egg of many I am sure. I am not rushing it or planning on finishing it. I am eating it till I am satisfied not full as per your motto. Again thanks for sharing your story and insights.
Thanks as always Frisco! Your famous phrase "Undereat your sleeve" resonates in my head many, many times as I sit down to a meal. I'm still in the learning stage (I'm almost 4 months out) and it's been an admitted struggle to make what's going on in my head (my desire to eat more) match what's going on in my new stomach (my physical inability to *comfortably* eat more). Your words of wisdom and encouragement for us truly help me!!!!
