3 Days Post Op
I am wondering about my diet and the way my tummy feels! Today is my second day on Full liquids and first whole day home from the Hospital! When I eat or drink my tummy acts like it is bubbling and takes a painful min. to settle down! I try but then that makes me want to stop!! Should I just do liquids for now?? I have also been getting horrible pains on my right side & that can be so sore to, thinking that that may be gas just not sure! I have also gained weight sense beore the surgery & it stinks to be going threw all of this and not seeing anything positive yet! I see ppl have posted that things get better, so I still have hope!! Just wanted to vent!!

You really shouldnt be eating for at least two weeks
All of my pain is on my left side where my largest incision is where they pulled my stomach out.
I am actually hungry today!! Grrr!
whats up with that
I am able to drink no problem..
I just sip but all day long as I dont want to get dehydrated...
everyday i get in more...
on my second 16 ozs today...
I have had a quarter of a pkg of weight control oatmeal for breakie
and a whole premier nutrition shake,, divided into three servings
I do not want to overfill at all
BUT I really dont have a feeling of fullness
?????
I just had 1/2 of a sf popsicle
not sure I am allowed eggs yet but I cant wait
I had to follow liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op and
I am sick of liquids!!
we will get thru this!
best of luck to everyone
What is your surgeon's food plan post op? For most/many of us it was liquids only for 2 - 4 weeks before moving on to any type of foods. At 3 days, allot of folks can barely ge****er in to their raw, swollen stomach. Bubbling and short term pain is not abnormal. Try different temperatures of water. Try a shot glass full every 10 mins. Certainly no food unless your plan allows it (but I would doubt that at 3 days).
Gas pain is normal. Walk and release some of that gas. It's pretty normal after surgery.
Weight gain is also normal. It comes with surgery and the buckets of fluids they have pumped in you. STAY OFF THE SCALE FOR AWHILE.
It kind of sounds like you're disappointed in the results so far. A positive result is that you had a successful surgery, got out of hospital in a timely manner and seem to be recouping well.
Good luck.
Ps you have 3 rows of stapels holding tummy together food product can lift a stapel I was told 3 weeks before first row of staples covered by scar tissue. You dont want a leak so I suggest liquids only
