Gas issues

I am almost 4 weeks post-op now. Most of the pains and such are gone ... just a twinge here and there.  I have noticed that I have alot of gas pressure. I have been using Gas-X strips since coming home from the hospital. But I still have alot of gas. Loud gurgle sounding inside, and pressure inside.  Any one know what I can do to get rid of it? Is this normal?  Will it stop soon? What can I do to reduce this?  Help...

ARe you on a PPI? I will be on one for at least 2 months after my VSG next week. Just a thought.

It is perfectly normal.  To prevent too much gas, eat/drink slowly and take small bites.  Gas X helps some.  Walking also helps - move around after you eat.

Good luck!

No matter what I do I have "burping" gas.  I take a PPI, in fact I have for years.  in my family we all blame my g'mothr.  And in fact alll my family will call me by my g'mom's name when I start my burping.

I have tried the small sips and everything else that has been mentioned... I still burp a lot after I eat or drink.  In fact I just burp a lot..... all the time.

I think for some people it is how they swallow food/drinks/spit.   some folks just swallow air when they swallow.

That said... there have been times in the last 4 weeks since surgery that if I had not been such a champion burper I would have had major pain from the gas.... instead.... I burp away after every meal and drink.

Hubby just laughes at me and calls me by my g'moms name...

During the gas/pain episodes move around and try to burp..  If you have a hard time burping I can't help you there!

Good luck and I hope the pain/discomfort goes away quickly for you
