A question for the ladies...

ok, every since surgery when TOM comes to visit I am totally wiped out, like don't want to get out of bed, it's hard to make myself move and by the end of the day I literally fall into bed feeling like I spent most of the day being run over by a truck.

It's horrible, not just in a whiny I don't feel good kind of way, but in a truly debilitating way.

Anyone else have this issue? Anyone find a way to combat it?

Have you had your iron checked? Are your TOM heavier than they have been?

This does sound like an issue for your doc, maybe not your surgeon but regular or gyn doc if s/he is knowledgable about WLS issues.

My only other suggestion is to treat TOM days like workout days and have a little heavier calories to see if that gives you more energy.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

Ok FIRST, I love seeing your face on posts!

My iron has been ok, but I am due for more bloodwork in a week or two so I guess we will see. It is heavier AND before surgery I would go about 6 to 8 months without TOM showing up, so I am not used to it being an every month kind of thing, it's really throwing me off.

I am a carb craving monster right now, so I am going to maybe go to about 50/60 carbs for now as it seems to help a bit.

Gah, I want to go kick a skinny person right now LOL

Early on I hated, just hated my iron supplements. They left me a gaggy aftertaste. I never deliberately didn't take them, but I think my subconscious was messing with me and I was not super compliant.

A receptionist in the surgeon's office said "have you tried the black rasperry chewable" and they are marvelous. Suddenly I look forward to taking them and am pretty much 100% compliant. My iron went from borderline 54 at 3 months to 100 at my last visit.

And the point of this rambling is that I've had much less tiredness at my periods (which was never as bad as you describe) since my iron numbers improved.

Edit to add: Please back away from the skinny people. They will misinterpret your aggression, I think.

Yeah, and my doc won't do it b/c of my age! Gah, she said I am too young, and even though I *think* I am done with children this will make it so that I have to be done (hello, I have five freaking kids and my tubes tied, I am not having more kids! LOL).

I am thinking about hitting up her partner in about a month to see if he will say something differnt LOL There has to be a doc out there who will do it for me.

I had Novasure done in Aug and I am 39. Find another GYN.

My cramps were awful pre op and I did not want them getting worse. I have any monthly bleeding since surgery.

Yeah, she said she does not do it on anyone under 35 and I just turned 32 in Aug BUT really, I should be a specail case considering how many kids I already have (one son from another mother, 9 year old triplets and a two year old!) and the fact that I took steps already to never have another baby.

I am going to ask around and see what some of my girlfriends have to say about their docs, even if I just "cheat" on my current GYN for this one thing (b/c I do really love her).
