So my surgery was Tuesday morning and everything went according to plan.  That was until yesterday when I started running a high temp and they have hdva hard time getting my BP stable.

Someone please tell me this is not uncommon and everything will be ok!  By the way, fever is now down to 99 from 102.

A low grade fever after surgery happens sometimes.....but it could also be an early warning sign.  I would call your doctor asap.

Yea, I'm still in the hospital.  He should be in here to see me in just a couple hours.

That happened to me after my gall bladder surgery. I forget what they called it, but it was something like Post Surgical Fever. Apparently it's very common the nurses didn't even bat an eye. Just an, oh your temperature spiked. They gave me vicodin to bring it down and help with the surgery pain. That did the trick. fever was gone the next day. Temp. rose a little the following evening and then it was back to normal from there on out. Hopefully, that's all that's going on with you.

Yea, I am pretty much getting the same response from the RN's here.  Since this post I have been able to cough up some nasty stuff AND I was able to pass gas for the first time!

Keep using your incentive spirometer. I makes you take deep breaths to keep you from getting pneumonia. You should be using it 10 times an hour while awake. I know it is uncomfortable, but keep using. I used it at home for 1 week post-op.

I had a low grade fever for about 7 days. Called the surgeon and he said to use the spirometer thingy  10 times an hour (once every 10 minutes) and breath 10 counts each time. Kicked the fever within 24 hours.

Seems the lungs get a beating during surgery. Spirometer helps.

Oh and start taking your vitamins as soon as you are okay'd to do it.

I hope it gets better fast.
