Question about specific protein bullet...42g protein
And before someone says it...yes, I have have used the search feature!! I found many posts saying protein bullets in general are bad because it has collagen protein, but I found a specific brand saying that these are good for bariatric patients and there does not appear to be collagen in the ingredients list:
http://bulletnutrition.com/medical/
Ingredients: Purified water, (Proprietary blend of Biopeptide, casein protein isolate, WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE), malic acid, phosphoric acid, citric acid, natural mixed berry, sucralose, sodium benzoate (less than 0.1%) to preserve freshness, potassium sorbate (less than 0.1%) to preserve freshness
I am only asking about this because I am really having a difficult time getting all my protein in. I'm over 2 weeks out and it's still taking me about 1.5 hours to get a shake down, sometimes more.
Also...I need some other protein ideas...I'm in puree stage and I can't seem to get enough in. My stomach feels painful if I do more than sip, I can only eat about a tablespoon of puree, there has only been one day since surgery that I got both water and protein in...really struggling here and need some suggestions.
Edit: I should add that I do not drink the bullet, but instead bought a casein powder that I mix.
Trying to get all my protein with food is so hard right now, this just helps. Good Luck
Since the ingredient list says the proteins are a "proprietary blend", I am curious what percentage is Whey Protein Isolate and what percentage is Casein Protein. Two different types of protein. One absorbs very easily (whey) and the other is a very slow absorbing protein. The amounts are not broken down, but the whey protein is last on the list, which to me indicates the smaller amount. . I'd hate for you to spend $42.00 on 12 bottles only to find you're still not getting enough protein because there is a far higher percentage of the casein protein. Just my thoughts.

edit: Research published in the March 2011 issue of "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" indicates that whey can promote increased calorie burning and fat oxidation than casein, although casein may provide more satiety (fullness)
