The SHAKES

I took a long luxurious bath in the wee hours of the morning because I couldnt sleep, then when I got out of the tub I had a spell of dizzyness and I could feel my body shaking.  I put my head down and started breathing deeply, but it didnt seem to help, so I made a shake and added some blueberries to it and had that with my vitamins.  I am still feeling a little lightheaded 3+ hours later.  This has happened before, but not for this long....is this hypoglycemia?  I dont believe its dumping because my carbs have been fairly low. Yesterday I was more hungry  than usual (like every hour or so), and very tired, so I had steak  and atkins caramel nut chew bar, which never bothers me (heck some days I have two.)  I had moredense protein yesterday than I normally have post op.

Has anyone else had this happen...periods of increased hunger followed by the shakes and lightheaded-ness?

I have yet to have my surgery but I am a 34 year and counting diabetic.  What you are experiencing sounds a lot like low blood sugar to me.  I was told once by a paramedic after having a low sugar episode that I must have been low before I took a shower and the ho****er from the shower lowered my blood sugar even further.

It could also be a drop in blood pressure when you stood up.  Are you on blood pressure meds?

I agree, it sounds more like blood pressure changes. How is your fluid intake?

Nope, not on blood pressure meds, I've been right around 110/68 though I dont have a cuff at home...

I'd had this happen before when I stood up suddenly, though it was very rare.

I had no idea that ho****er had that effect!

I usually get in 5 to 6 glasses of liquids a day, not including my shake...

It was the ho****er. It *CAN* happen to me every time I take a hot bath and I take a lot of them and VERY hot.

I am aware now that it is gonn happen and I take prcautions. I either cool the water dow a good bit  while sitting in it before I stand up or sit in the empty tub for a few minutes to let my body cool off.

Do try to increase your fluid consumption. that can help overall with going from sitting to standing but I really think it was the toy water effect. Just be aware and proactive next time and enjoy those hot baths. Love mine!

Your blood pressure can be different in all three positions sitting lying standing, so standing up quickly it could've dropped.

Welp, Im feeling better but still a little wigged out...its funny in a way because I was marvelling at how much easier it is to get out of the tub now...then BAM!! lol
