Spider Surgery

I jus****ched the sleeve done as what is called Spider Surgery on U-Tube.  It was
unbelievable!  There was only one incision done at the belly button.  A tool was placed in thru
that dime size incision that opened up after insertion.  This tool put everything in the right place
to perform the sleeve.  The surgeon was in and out in no time.    The patient went  on
television with the surgeon two days after the surgery and felt wonderful.  Has anyone
else seen this?  I was amazed and want to question my surgeon about this possible
surgical method.

Its the SILS procedure. I watched the same YouTube video and was amazed at how far surgical technique has come. If your surgeon does it and you dont have any other issues that would forbid it I'd say go for it.

come before long.

Hi: Barara  Yes I saw it on Dr. Oz  show, very interesting. Not to many hospitals have this equipment yet, because of the high cost and not having enough surgeon trained to use the spider.
I asked my surgeon about the spider, but he informed me, that he is a hands-on type of surgeon, no spider for him.
It's still to new for me, I'll wait and see how it works out in the future.
Happy journey.

I had the spider sleeve!! It is way cool, my scar is already fading (I have a pic in my profile of a few weeks after surgery and the scar) I was only given IV forms of tylenol and ibuprofen- no narcs and was up walking the halls and feeling pretty good- though I did have some nausea. I felt it was very cool I was able to have the spider =)

I would really like to have the surgery done this way.   I have Kaiser as my healthcare
provider, and I am pretty sure they do not have this available.  They are always the
last one to offer something like this.  I just feel recovering would be quicker and easier.

That is the way that I had my surgery and I'm glad I could have it done that way. Since I had previously had a surgery thru my belly button, I dont have a new scar.

That is great. It seems like it would be a better surgery. The technique appears easier on the patient and the doctor.  This process is taking so long that maybe Kaiser will have this available by
the time my turn comes.  Wish me luck.

Kaiser will catch up. They just have to get their doctor's trained. I was one of the 1st people in the VA in Pittsburgh PA to get it done (Rumor is I was the 1st) but my doc had been doing it at another hospital where he also practices.
