Carb overload - yuck

So I am a big fan of keeping carbs low, especially in the weight loss phase.  A couple reasons.  One, we need to get our protein in and carbs don't help us do that.  Two, less carbs equals better fat burning (ketosis).  Three, eating carbs makes me sleepy.  Four, eating carbs makes me crave more carbs.  I could probably keep going but I'll stop there.

Well, yesterday I posted about it being Super Bowl Sunday so I was going to eat more loosely than normal.  My planned intake included some lemon cookies and nachos.  All nasty white carbs.  Anyhow, I did and they tasted yummy, but by last night, I was feeling lousy.  Tired, lethargic, bloated and overall crappy.

I think I learned my lesson!  Step away from the carbs.

I think I would kill for a lemon cookie right now. Lemon in anything is divine. Of course, I adore and fantasize about nachos all the time too. I may even have me some real soon, as I think if you have the corn tortillas, (pure corn meal it usually says on the label) then you are avoiding the white flour scourge. I know, I know, corn meal is not much better as far as carbs go, but at least it is not the evil wheat stuff.

I feel the same way - not yet sleeved but I've been trying to cut out carbs from my diet for a few months now since my diabetes has been confirmed. It is not easy.. some of my favourite foods are carbs. But it sure makes a difference!

I'm in the same boat, but on a larger scale.  I've been at a conference all last week, and didn't make the best food choices.  Lots of carby stuff.  Today, I was doing fine until lunchtime and then got breaded chicken fingers . I have NO idea why I did that.  I wanted chili, and walked out with chicken fingers.  And then, to make matters worse, ate too much, too quickly and now feel like hell.  It's when I'm out of the house and have to buy food that I make crappy choices.  I will be bringing all of my food to work for the rest of the week.  Let's just keep fighting the good fight!

It's a love hate relationship! We love how they taste, but ultimately hate how we feel after eating them, and hate what they do to the body and mind. Today is a new day! Start fresh!

I kind of did the same thing only I ate a half of biscuit and gravy for breakfast thinking I would "splurge", the issue is that it made me sick most of the day!  That was the first time I have had any bread since my surgery.... Wont do that again anytime soon!!!

I splurged and popped a bag of popcorn yesterday to share with my husband during the game ... and ate WAY too much of it! Like you, I hate the post-carb "hangover", feeling tired and drugged, and sometimes queasy on top of it. Fortunately a lot of things like bread and chips just don't feel good in my sleeve, it's kind of like I swallowed a rock.
