Questions about Insurance

 Good Morning everyone, I have a question about insurance.  I have a friend who her dr. has suggested she have the VSG.  She has insurance but the insurance limits her to one hospital and she doesn't want to go there.  She knows she will be paying out of pocket but really can't afford it, any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, I completely understand how your frind feels. I work at the hospital where I will be having my surgery. Not optimal, but it is what it is. I am grateful I can have the surgery, so many cannot.

As for out of pocket costs. I am a believer in that we will recoup all that money back eventually. Saving money on medications we no longer have to take, costs for more expensive clothing due to our size, and food costs like going out to restaurants, drive thrus, etc. All monies saved.

The cost is worth it.

I don't know if this helps or not but I am going through the same thing.  I have the lap-band and have to have my band removed because of prolapse and want to revise to the sleeve.  I actually went to the Dr. my insurance says I have to use about a year ago and he had done a fill on my band which resulted in an over-fill then I called them because I couldn't even swallow my own saliva and they said they couldnt see me for a couple of days!  A couple of days?!  Needless to say it was a bad experience and is probably why my band slipped which is why I am wanting to go back to my original surgeon for the band removal and revision.  I was told by my insurance to send a letter explaining why I didn't want to go to their physician of choice and also have the surgeon I want to go to send a letter of predetermination.  I hope it works or I may be out of luck!
