How do you JAZZ up your protein shakes WITHOUT adding more sweet??

Of course, there is Unjury Chicken Soup protein Powder and at Unjury's website there are recipes - now I mix this with chicken bouillon granules and ho****er and am still working on the right combo. It's not fabulous but it is NOT sweet - Thank God. I prefer extracts (can't tolerate SF stuff dso the syrups are out) and at least at the moment, have mint, almond and orange which I add a few drops to chocolate or vanilla. I agree that stuff is potent. An eye dropper is a good idea - I pour some into the lid until, well, it looks about right. There are articial flavors aplenty out there like butter rum and banana but I have only tried the true extracts.

Now the water for the Chicken Soup can't be over 130 degrees or it is clumped and nasty.

I like the shakes and have been using them for sugar cravings on my pre-surgery diet.  They taste like melted ice cream shakes to me.   I had a thought today - how do you guys think malt powder would be in it.  I like malts.  I use syntax and premier.

I am on clear liquids today because my surgery is tomorrow morning!  I would love one of those shakes today.

malt powder would be a poor choice. The serving size is 3 tablespoons and has 90 cals, !5 gms carbs, less than 1 gm fiber,10 gms sugar,2 gms protein.

The first ingredient is wheat flour,so you really would not be doing yourself any favors adding malt powder.

good luck tomorrow!

I use any of the following:

Unsweetened cocoa powder
Instant coffee, decaf or regular
Peppermint extract
Raspberry extract
(Any extract that appeals to you - I also like almond and vanilla)
Peanut butter or other nut butter
PB2 (defatted peanut butter powder)
Frozen strawberries (Mix in blender)
Frozen blueberries (Mix in blender)
Frozen raspberries (Mix in blender)
Cottage cheese and or Greek Yogurt (Mix in blender - Makes it taste like chocolate cheesecake)
A bit of coconut milk or coconut extract

I also use no sugar added dark chocolate that I buy at Trader Joes and mix it in the blender at the end. It makes a chocolate chip kinda thing.

Spinach and/or kale and flax meal! It is really very tasty added to vanilla protein shake. The flax cuts the sweetness and adds a great nuttiness.

PB2 for sure and PB2 plus chocolate,  pure unsweetened cocoa to tone down the sweetness, instant decaff coffee. Every day I use all in some combination.

You can add any extract like cherry, mint, etc. whatever you like.
