Poll: Vets - Do you take fiber?
I took benefiber for the first 6 months. Now I get fiber through food (quest bars, Scandinavian crispbread, veggies). But (since I assume the question is really about constipation), I make sure I drink a lot and get a decent amount of healthy fat in my diet (olives, olive oil, avocado, guacamole, nuts, butter, peanut butter, bacon, the skin on the chicken, fat on the steak). I'm regular and don't have any issues with constipation.
Hi! I was wondering the following:
How far out are you? certainly not a vet -4 months tomorrow
Do you take fiber supplements? - yes, 2 fiber gummies per day. If I haven't gone for 3 days, I drink a cup of smooth move tea in the evening. Works every time. I am also adding in more veggies, but still a very small amount compared to pre-surgery.
I would love to just rely on natural food sources for my fiber, but that doesn't seem possible right now. I also eat a Quest bar nearly every day. I am trying to incorporate beans, etc. into the diet, but as you all know, when protein is the main focus, it is hard to take in much beyond that. I've also noticed that when I am moving more physically, the other stuff moves better as well, if you get my drift!

I do not take fiber at 14 months post-op (tommorrow). I do get on average 16g of fiber today through my food, although I try to get in 20. Things that can help with fiber are Atkins Daybreak bars, Ryvita Crispbread, etc.
I drink, drink, drink, and try to be as active as possible to keep the trains running on time, so to speak.

I'll be a year out in April, and I take fiber in the form of 2T dry chia seeds a day, hydrated in a couple cups of water & dumped into my Crystal light or sometimes dry, mixed with yogurt and set aside to gel up (think tapioca-ish.)
Good balance of roughage & soluble fiber that my guts love with the chia seeds. I do this 1x a day for now, plus I use 1/2tsp konjac root powder in my protein shake. Konjac or glucomannan is a soluble fiber that is a great thickener to boot, so it makes my morning shake more the texture I like. If I make a gravy or stew, I add it in that too to thicken it instead of flour or cornstarch..
4T of chia a day would be better, but I count the fiber carbs and cals from them, and want to stay within my own plan- so for now that's all I use. It gives me plenty to keep bathroom time regular though. I have switched to regular cal citrate powder, and I take a Mg oxide/citrate capsule 400mg in the evening since my new calcium has none.

How far out are you? 11 months
Do you take fiber supplements? Kinda sorta. I used to, but now I eat a Quest bar every day. Today's (chocolate brownie) has 19 grams of fiber.
If so, what type? Before the Quest bars I took Benefiber in my shakes and drinks, 3 doses a day.
How often? See above
