Has it been hard to give up soda? I have 1 or 2 cokes (real cokes) per day. I know that I will have to give those up completely.

It's only hard the first month or so. I had given up soda many times in the past from anywhere between a few weeks to 6 months. I knew it was going to be permanent this time, though, so I quit cold turkey 2 months before surgery. The caffiene addiction/headaches were out of my system long before I was out under. It's not quite so bad when you realize how many other great things there are to drink! I always loved ice tea, so I basically substituted my soda addiction for it. :)

It's amazing how quickly that adds up, isn't it? I would toss back 52 ounce sodas from the gas station 3, 4 times a day without even thinking. Yikes.

Man, I could eat a ton.  I am not a pizza eater - but I could eat a massive meal at benihana - starting with 2 sushi rolls, the full meal, plus fried rice, then go out for baskin robbins for desert.

Only 2.5 weeks out from surgery and now I know that was so wrong - and it disgusts me.  What's worse is I was eating this way in front of my kids.  Now with me going through this, my whole family and I are learning healthier habits.  Even my pug.  lol

My Nutritionist said on average that people can fit 6 cups of food in their stomach pre op and after surgery 1/2 cup.

I could eat 4 pieces of pizza and down 32 oz of soda for a meal easily pre op. Now the topping (no crust because of carbs) of one small piece fills me up by itself. LOVE MY SLEEVE!

I've not been sleeved  yet so here's what I eat when we go out:

When we go to CiCi's, I usually have 2 or 3 pieces of pizza and a brownie.

At Mexican food restaurants, I will eat 2 enchiladas and some of the rice. The CHIPS are my problem there! I love chips and salsa! That's where I eat way too much--probably half of the basket (yikes!!)

At ff restaurants, I will have a cheeseburger, fries, and drink.

At Chick Fil A, I will get the kids 2 piece kids chicken strip meal (waffle fries included).

At Jack in the box, I will get 2 tacos (for 99 cents--lol).

At Taco Bueno, I will get a muchaco (like a taco in pita bread) and a party-size (small) bean burrito

It just depends on where we go. I don't think I'm necessarily one to binge (other than on tortilla chips at a Mexican food restaurant) but we eat out WAY too much! Our lives are just so hectic now that I'm working.  When I stayed home, I cooked a lot more and I weighed much less (though I still struggled with my weight).  Also--Coke is another problem for me.  I aim for one per day but I will often have 2 per day.  I will have to cut that out completely.

It's so funny that this was posted,I was just talking to my mom about this yesterday,I use to be able to eat a burger with fries and a drink two glass of soda and then turn around and eat cake with ice cream or whatever dessert was in the house at the time or eating half a papa johns pizza with couple of wings and dessert.its truly amazing how i went from all of that to barely eating three-five table spoons before im full.

I'm on a Everchanging journey.

I used the meal maker at Mc Donald's once to put in my typical meal and I used to eat about 3,500 calories at once and then about 3 hours later I'd eat the rest as a snack. I usually wouldn't eat in the morning, a little bit for lunch but I would completely binge at night. I also ONLY drank soda. No water or juice or healthy drinks were ever in my life. That's why I have a problem with dehydration now. I absolutely hate drinking because it isn't soda. As far as pizzas go, a large one from pizza hut was no problem! Of course I'd drink at least half a 2 liter and some dessert. Papa Johns was different if it was the one with everything on it.... but I would always order the extra large one and have maybe 3 pieces left and finish the other 3 later as a snack. I loved food comas. I loved feeling my stomach feel so full that it was going to burst. The whole process made me feel good inside. Can't do it anymore. That part is hard to deal with. I can't stand eating anymore because it's so "pointless." I always say that. Anyway, I used to eat A LOT.

That was my problem too friend. I LOVED being in that "so full i have to pass out now" feeling. Didn't matter the food, I loved them all. Wow how things are different with the VSG!

BTW, I'm happy to see you post this weekend. I was going to send you a PM today because I was worried about you, hadn't heard from you in a while. Glad to see you're back. Missed ya!
