Carb Trouble at Mushy Stage

So I know beans have a fair few carbs in them.  But during the mushy phase I'm in they are a main staple of it.  Today I'm at 48 carbs for the day.  So I'm wondering are those 8g going to kill me?  Is one day ok and I'll just need to watch it.

Here's what I'm eating or will eat today:

B: Protein mix chocolate - 3g Carbs 27g protein
Skim milk - 4oz - 7g carbs - 5g protein
Chirardelli Unsweetened baking cocoa - 3 carbs 1 protein
Strawberries fresh 2 - 6 carbs 0 protein

L: Ground turkey chilli pureed in blender with 1 tbsp fage: 16g carbs 13g protein

D: Ricotta Cheese Bake: 10g carbs 12g protein

Sn 1: egg white "omelet" 1g carbs 7g protein
Sn 2: 1tbsp fage with sugar free perserves: 2g carbs 3g protein.

Edit: Not sure how your OP got copied into my response without my actual response being there, but what I had said was that I wouldn't worry about going over 8 carbs, as long as you're not slowly creeping that number up significantly, especially right now while you are trying to figure out what works for you.

Good luck :)

I didn't start worrying too much about carbs until I got to solid food. During liquids, purée and mushy stages I just worried about getting in enough fluids and close to enough protein (fluids were hard enough at that point).

Try cottage cheese, scrambled egg, ricotta bake and Greek yogurt for some mushy lower carb foods.

I didn't worry too much about carbs until I was out of the mushy phase. I just stayed focused on getting food and liquid into my body to keep it energized and healthy!

There is only one success--to be able to spend your life in your own way.

it's ricotta cheese (part skim), a bit of mozzerella and a bit of sauce heated up and eaten.  It's like the inside of a stuffed shell or lasagna.  It's yummy.

My nutritionist said that 2-6 weeks post op I should only be concerned with keeping my protein up to goal, calories under 900 and not to worry about carbs at this point.  She suggested beans and mashed potatoes mixed with greek yogurt.... very tasty too.

“Not many of us are living at our best.  We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains.  The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills.  We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence.  What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb.  What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.?  JRM
