Disappointed, only 13 lbs lost in 4 weeks!

Today is 4 weeks since surgery and I've only lost 13 lbs...I'm struggling with the 70 gms of protien vs. the 64 oz of water.  It's like I end up doing one or the other.  I cannot drink protien shakes as they give me 2-3 hours of severe diarrhea.  I went back to work today and I can see that this is going to be a challenge!  I'm keeping to the post op plan pretty well otherwise, but wish I was seeing more dramatic results.  Maybe I'm going to be a slow loser......Official 4 week visit on Wednesday.

You lost 15.6% of your excess weight in 4 weeks. That's EXACTLY how much I lost at 4 weeks. I just happened to start out at almost 400 pounds. I don't think it's realistic for you to expect to lose 30 pounds in a month if you have 80 pounds to lose total. You'd reach goal in a few months. I don't think I've seen it happen that quick for anyone, even people that start off with as little EW as you.

I feel yor pain I'm 3 weeks out. Keep working at your protein and water in. Don't be discouraged, that's 3 lbs a week, which is still good. I'm sure the weight will come off.

I started out at 188 and wanted to lose 80.  at 4 weeks I'd lost 0.  at six weeks I'd lost 6 and at 6 months I'd lost 40.  There are certainly folks who have lost tons more but lightweights generally move slower.  i lost about 6lbs a month and I've made my peace with that.  For today anyhow.  Also I'd say 4 weeks is very early out to see patterns, so give it a minute.  it is moving down.

From my observations, people who have less to lose starting out (we call them lightweights around here) usually lose slower. I think you're doing great! Had you ever lost that much in 4 weeks before wls? My guess is probably not.

And I know what you mean about being at work being a challenge... I go back Wednesday, and I'm a little nervous lol! You can do this. Just keep going!

Heads up- I've never lost that much in one month, starting higher than you- check my profile for what my losses were week to week... what's with the rush? I'd say for a lightweight- that's pretty damn dramatic.

I don't know where folks get the idea you need to lose 20+lbs a month.. think in EWL%, and you'll get a reality check fast.
