Hi all! I am a little over 2 weeks post op and I am eating some cottage cheese and green beans for my meals and maybe 1 protein shake a day now and a LOT of water  What did or are you guys eating that works for you. I feel like it's too soon to tell what is working. All I know is the food makes me SO full it's uncomfortable for a while. It's almost like it takes too long for it to gill my stomach. I am having a hard time learning how much to eat.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated

Thanks!!

My 3 week mark is Wed. and I have been venturing into things slowly.  I have found I too love cottage cheese.  I boiled some eggs too to have ready to eat at any time.  I have been having 1 egg, softly scrambled, with 1/3 slice of 2% cheese and I am loving this.  I did pair it with 1/8 of a cup of cottage cheese and that is almost to much.

Another thing I tried was tuna salad.  I am not sure what I was thinking but we went to Firehouse Subs and that is all fine.  I ordered 3 oz of the tuna salad, ate three bites and after all the chewing I was sooooooooooooo full.  So, I could of just ordered 1 oz.

I started out with mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes.  They fill me up toooooooo much!

Hope this helps a little bit!!!!

Thank you!! It's so nice to hear from someone who is really close to where I am at. I didn't do the potato thing cause I love them too much and I just don't want to start that way. I wasn't sure though because I feel so full if I am already stretching out my sleeve. I am also concerned that I am not "regular" enough to be losing. I think I overthink everything   but that's just me!!

Thanks again! Hope we can help each other out!

Are you drinking enough water????  I know that my regular is now every other day.  I purchased some softener cause...ouch!  The tuna slides through, maybe you should try that...hahahahahaha  Yes, it is nice to have people who are in the same time frame.  Makes us feel so much more normal.  I too over think things.  So, what is the next thing your going to try?  I know I bought tons of yogurt....it was way to sweet!

I think I need to try tuna. I bought some fish at the farmer's market but I have NO clue how to cook it! Lol! So I think I need to just do the tuna for now and get something other than cheese or beans in me   Do you make it with anything or just eat it out of the can? I also haven't tried eggs with cheese although I have wanted to since day 3 post op! haha! I also tried yogurt but really just don't think it's as nutritionally solid as I would like - you know? So I am trying to find that balance of eating healthy and trying new things. I did try a small piece of pita bread with hummus at the market too and that was fine. I bought some hummus for my son and tabouli for me, so I have a spoon or too of them combined    I am a little weird that way though!! haha!! I love salad and stuff. I really want to try one but I don't think I will like it cause I can't eat enough.

Are you having that problem too? Feeling like you aren't eating enough, like I am grieving not being able to eat more?!? That's so weird but I hate that I can only take a couple of bites!! You?

The tuna was made at a food place.  Seeing how I didn't each much I estimated it about 30 calories since I didn't eat much.  I  believe it had mayo and pickles but the tuna was really fine.  What kind of fish did you buy maybe I can help you with how to cook it.  I am not trying "real" fish until after my 3 week which will be Thursday.  I will be grilling out Thurs night....hahahhaha  I miss grilled veggies and bison burgers.  The egg with cheese should be ok, just don't use a lot of cheese.

As far as balanced eating, right now I am concerned, however, I am more concerned with eating my protein.  I am staying away from bread for now of any type as everything I have read on this board is saying stay away from carbs.  I just did the potatoes because of knowing they were smooth to go down.

I feel as though I am eating where I should right now.  I have not been sick so that makes me happy and I can tell you when I am done eating it feels as though it is at the top of my esophagus.  I think that is normal for now.  My chest doesn't hurt or anything like that.  When I am eating cottage cheese by itself, I have 1/4 of a cup and that seems perfect.

I am dealing with my old feelings of food.  It is nice to be able to be aware of what I am eating and not "needing" as much as I did.  I use to need the whole plate cause the more I ate the better I felt.  Now, its the less I eat the better I feel.  I know I am eating to help my body, not to sooth myself.  What a new concept for me.  I was watching my family have there grilled burgers last night and while they looked good, I  sat down with my 1/8 cup of cottage cheese and soft boiled egg and was like HA, I will be losing weight with my meal, bet y'all wont.  I know its just my games in my head.  BUT IT HELPS!

What I do miss is my glass of wine...  What do you miss?

Ok cool - I will just try it with Mayo. I think it will be fine since we are only eating small portions. I have heard of people using avocado instead...hmmm...maybe I will try that!! I LOVE avocado!!

I bought sea bass? I got it cause it was fresh at the market and I really need to cook it. Any help would be GREAT!! I got a couple fillets. Not too big. I don't have a grill - wish I did and knew how to use it! Lol!

Yeah - I am doing the no bread thing too. Just had a bite to satisfy my curiosity. I think that helps me. Trying small pieces of things so I don't feel like I am keeping things from myself. you know? I am eating the same amount of cottage cheese. I feel like I am overeating cause of how full I am when I am done. I try to chew and wait but I feel like I am starving! I don't understand. Everyone said they didn't have cravings but I did!! Right away I was craving everything around me. It's not so bad now but I am really having a hard time cause I am bored!! I feel like my life changed but in a harder way and I don't like it. I am not sure if I am getting enough exercise with my job alone but I am too tired to do anymore right now.

Sorry to dump but I have no one to talk to that is doing this actual type of process. So I have nothing to gauge it on!! I am doing similar games, but I am still having resentment issues and feeling like I am not eating enough so I am bored. I don't know what else to do with myself. It's so weird!!

I think right now I just miss cooking and eating. Plus popcorn!! I have been wanting some for a WHILE now!! haha!

P.S. Do you know how I change my ticker or does it change automatically?!?

Your ticker says on my screen 120 to go.  So if this isn't correct go to tools and body tracker and put the info in there and it will say info saved.  I know there is something to do with cookies as to why it doesn't update.  I think there are several of us going through the same things.  That is why I choose to keep responding publicly.

I think the cravings in the beginning for me were in my head.  I have made dinner for my family a few times now and I am ok with it.  So, I am still getting to cook and that is a much needed thing for me.  I just need to  learn to cook healthier.  Granted atleast I am not doing fried this and fried that in which I grew up with.

I thnk your doing awesome...your on here, getting support.  I know there are somethings my family just do not understand, so I come here and ask questions or read to see how normal or such I am.  I am finding I am pretty dang normal.  AHHAHAH  So, I am sure you are too!!!

I wonder when or if we can have popcorn?  I am not a popcorn fan, but I know lots are.  HMMMM  Maybe someone will answer.

I think I want to change mine to what I have lost instead? But I don't even see where I can change it?!? Weird!!

I have made dinner a couple of times but it's just me and my son mostly so it's hard. Now he's eating a lot of junk and I am barely eating!! Lol! But he does LOVE cottage cheese. I can't get him to eat anything else    so I guess that's good!!

And you sound like you are doing REALLY good too!! Glad we are friends! These forums DEFINITELY are helping me keep my sanity! Who knew!

I am thinking I can have popcorn anytime after I start on real meat?!? But I kinda don't want to start yet cause I LOVE it and don't want to bring it back into the diet just yet!!

So when can you have wine?!? I am not a drinker so that never came up for me. But I love coffee so that was hard for a while. Now that I have had it I could care less, weird huh? It's almost like if it doesn't do anything for me, I don't want to waste the space - you know?!?
