restriction is because of this....Everyone loves BEFORE and AFTERS...here ya go
BEFORE hey this looks just like mine pre VSG lol

and AFTER ( 1 day POST OP - 32F bougie)

The "GE" is the gastroesophageal juncture...where the esophagus and stomach connect..separated by the cardiac sphincter ..a valve that prevents HCL -acid produced by the stomach for digesting food...from backin into and damaging your esophagus and throat
Another valve...connects the stomach at the pylorus...from the small intestine (duodenum) called a pyloric valve/sphincter. Its also a one way valve..preventing bile acids for digestion of food fat...in the small intestine from getting into the stomach, but allowing digested food called chyme to pass into the small intestine for further digestion and absorption of micronurtients...from chyme.
dang it...can't cut n paste the 4 YEAR OLD VSG 32F bougie
...but our sleeves NATURALLY dilates as it matures by 1 year post op to maybe 3 times this 1 day old size. The esophagus is ~INCH wide...the pyloric canal before the pylorus is about 1 inch wide. and our new stomach usually winds up bein around the same..a tube that looks like the sleeve of a shirt!
you can see other pics, xrays on my BOUGIES in VSG blog too

Carmelita, this and your post that you linked to are the most helpful things I've seen. I've been worried because my sleeve/stomach is clearly holding more than other peoples' since I have no problem with 3 ounces and I'm won't be 3 weeks out until Friday. I've never had the swallowing issues and was wondering whether my "restriction" even existed. But reading what you've written, watching Dr A's video, etc. have eased my mind.
Thank you!
Thank you!
