What I learned this week.
I've been doing it wrong!
I was still of a mind frame of looking at my calories, my protein, and making sure I managed to fit everything in, ending with between 600 and 800 calories, usually closer to 800.
This week it finally clicked. One evening I was around 70 grams of protein and just over 500 calories and it was close to bedtime and I was trying to figure out what to drink or eat and it hit me. 800 isn't a target. 600 isn't a target. Why don't I just be happy with 70 grams of protein and go to bed?
For the next few days I was at or under 600 calories and didn't feel at all deprived. Did I hit 80 protein? No, but I always got more than 60 (which is why my doc and NUT wanted me to get).
When I'm able to start seriously working out I will up the protein as necessary because I do believe those of you who say in the long run it will be better. But right now I can't exercise heavily, and just as I was advised by several of you, I'm taking advantage of this lack of appetite by not eating so much.
Duh!
I'm eating great food, healthy food, and feel wonderful.
I'm just a little slow on the uptake sometimes!
