When I was at that stage I referred to it as the Big Bird look...it does get better! One thing that comes to mind, but I didn't try was maternity pants. They should be cut bigger in the belly and narrower on the legs. They are much more stylish now then when I had my kids many years ago. They don't have the stretchy panel like they used to.

I agree about the bootleg...much more flattering. Try other cuts of pants also. The ones with the lower rise are good because the higher ones can be too tight at the waist. Also, the comfort waist ones with the soft elastic inside the waistband like (Lees, Gloria Vanderbilt) have a bit more give...so you can fit to the hips and the waist still fit.

I actually think maternity pants are an excellent idea! Target has some adorable maternity clothes. I've actually picked up several  cute things while browsing only to realize later that they are maternity clothes.

Unfortunately, I am built exactly opposite--to fit my butt and thighs, the waistband of pants doesn't even touch my skin--so I don't have much to offer in the way of advice, only to say have a great time in Hawaii.

My friend is like that--she carries her weight in her hips and thighs, and I carry mine in my middle.  It's always something!!!

When I was pregnant in the seventies I had some knit tops that snapped at the crotch.  Depending on whether I wore the orange one or the purple one, I either looked like an eggplant or a pumpkin on stilts!

Thanks for the advice about Lees and GV.  I didn't know that!

Love, love, love these pants. QVC, Cotton/spandex, fit great and you can keep wearing them as you shrink --- plus they make you look skinny

These are for tall girls, but they have them in regular lengths too....I just happened to have these bookmarked because I'm really long legged.

You had me at skinny.  LOL

These look like they may work because they fit snug through the thighs but flare at the bottom, which is a look I like.  If only they don't make my muffin top overflow too much.... thanks!

I too love QVC pants, capris, shorts, pedal pushers. I buy their Denim & Co. Brand and the usually have the elasticided waist and the fabric is cotton with spandex.i keep buying them in a few styles and then keeping a pair or 2 in reserve, one size smaller.

Have you tried just buying capri length yoga pants? I pretty much live in yoga pants and love the capri length ones in warm weather.

I'm shaped differently, with the greater part of my excess being from ribcage to mid thigh, but I find yoga pants to be wonderfully forgiving.
