"good" mindlessness

This morning, pulling into the local place I get coffee, all of the parking spaces close by were filled.  I rode around the corner and parked - no big deal.  Then it dawned on me that, before losing weight, I would do anything to not have to walk a few more steps.  I'd park as close as I could, I'd always go the the bathroom closest to my office and be ticked off if it was in use.  God forbid the bathroom at the other end of the building was in use too!  Now, I don't even give those things a thought.  I park where there's a spot, I run upstairs to get something if I need to, without whining so my husband will go for me.  I just do these things as a matter of course.  What kinds of things do others here do without thinking now?

I also take the stairs for anything and everything. Heck, I even look for stairs to take! I work on the 6th floor but when our bathrooms are being cleaned or out of service, I'm like, oh well, I guess I'll take the stairs all the way down to the 1st floor and use the bathroom in the lobby. I don't even just take the stairs to the floor below but I take them all the way down!!! Awesome thing is, I can walk back up 6 flights of stairs without even 1 huff'n'puff, luv it!

I offer to do Starbucks runs for my co-workers in the office and that's a win-win since I get to get my own iced coffee & I also get fresh air while getting my butt off my chair, yay!

Stairs are no longer the enemy!!  The weekend of recital, I had to help out my little one for each costume change and then truck up to the balcony to watch her performance, then down again, etc...  I must have done 700-800 stairs that weekend, and I didn't bat an eyelash.  I even managed to run to see my older daughter's performances, go back to the balcony a couple of times to bring and retrieve my little one who was watching with friends, and then danced in my number as well.  Couldn't have done that before surgery,

Love it!   Just yesterday I had a similar realization.  I needed to go to two stores that were opposite ends of a large strip mall.  In the old days I would have parked at one store, done my shoppingk, then driven to the store at the other end.  This time I just parked in the middle and strolled back and to.     Isn't it the best feeling?   Congrats!!

What a victory!  I often times now say to my husband, let's just walk over to wherever we're going, rather than get in the car and move to the next destination.

I find myself doing the same thing, momsy!!!!  I also take the stairs and actually walked to the grocery store at lunch today (took about 30 minutes) because I wanted to get a salad.

I do enjoy getting outside more and find myself looking for things to do outside (except the 'unfun' stuff like picking up after the dogs).

WHAT A GREAT REALIZATION!!

Kudos to you!  I agree about the dog stuff :)  I sometimes have to pick it us inside when we've been gone too long and our little Sammy can't wait any longer.  What a yucky job!

This is one of the major reasons I wanted this surgery.  Moving with all this extra weight was so hard--and I knew if I wasn't carrying an extra person around on me, I'd do so much better.

And even though I'm nowhere near goal, it's already true.

[I'm not gaining weight. I keep lowering my goal!] [I LOVE MY SLEEVE!]

Moving more easily started early for me, too, and it's just gotten better the more weight I lose.  As I do more and more, my stamina keeps improving, and then I'm able to do even more.  Things that I never even considered, like biking a long distance, seem perfectly reasonable now.
