20 pounds regain normal?

On this blog entry one of the comments was:

Sometime between 18 and 30 months the body learns how to absorb calories again and a 20 pound bounceback regain is normal. Don't beat yourself up over it. It is not what you are eating, it is your intestines growing more celli to help them hold more of the calories for what you eat. This would have happened without the popcorn, sugarfree candy, etc.

It is normal part of healing.

Really?  We have this to look forward to?

With VSG we never had a problem not absorbing calories .. it is not a malabsorption surgery.  We have to be more strict with what we eat then bypass folks because we do absorb everything we eat.

if you notice .. the poster had RNY .. not VSG

I knew that about the sleeve.  Just wasn't thinking, and didn't notice that she was RNY!

Thanks!

That person had a gastric bypass.....not a sleeve.  And yes...RNY does lose their "caloric" malabsorption after a few years.

Don't mash every WLS together.

We are very different.
