Diarrhea from protein shakes?

I'm doing my pre-op diet right now and am on day 9 of drinking the (Unjury) protein shakes.  My surgeon's office requires us to purchase the pre-op protein shakes from them, so that's why I am specifically using the Unjry.

I never had a reaction or intolerance of dairy/whey products in the past, but it sure does seem like I've had a lot of diarrhea since I've been using the protein shakes 3x a day.

Anyone else experience this?

Liquid in, liquid out. Just be happy for being able to go without the assistance of pills. That will be your post in a few months haha.

Ditto the past responses. Be happy you are getting it out now. That will change soon enough.

It's normal.  My surgeons nurse also said it was related to the amount of protein you are taking in at one time with the shakes.

I would not totally discount the intolerance to the dairy/soy/whey. I have to use a plant based protein called PlantFusion, it is gluten free, soy free and dairy free. If the issue continues after surgery when you take in less of the protein drink, I would think about switching what type of protein drink you use. But I think we all had the same bathroom issue during the liquid phase of things. I was allowed to add Metamucil clear to mine to help. And it did help. Also helps now for the opposite problem. Fiber is good in so many ways.

Soy & dairy do that to me.  Sometimes it is just trial and error.  I would try a soy and dairy free protein and see if it helps.  The Pre-op diet tends to give you the runs.  It did me, just not a lot of fiber.  As you get to the solid food phase, you will probably have the opposite problem, as most of us do.  I finally figured out what a stool softener does.  :O).  I now use Colace, 3 a day, and that works for me.  Your body will go through tons of changes over the next months.  Take one day at a time, listen to your body and take notes of what works and what doesn't.  Blessings on your journey.
