Pics- Hairloss in my shower!- Not a question
This is not a "why is my hair falling out, what can I do??" post. I already know what, why, how, who, when, and all that. So anyway, let me say this. I brush my hair before I get in the shower and then while I'm in the shower I run my hands through my hair 5 million times and then throw it in the toilet to make sure that the hair doesn't go down the drain. During that process I get handfuls of hair, literally. The water in my shower started going down really slowly in the last few weeks. Today I decided to grab whatever was down there and blocking it.
THIS is what I found... this is just what what on top. No snake, no hanger, no sticking anything in the drain. And it's even after I brush my hair before and get all of it out while I'm in the shower (and throw it in the toilet). I was freaked the eff out.
I just wanted to post pics so that the people experiencing HL know that IT HAPPENS and it happens in large volumes. Also, use one of those things to catch the hair before it goes in your drain! Btw, this is not months and months of stuff from my drain. I'd say 2 months... Also, I spend a lot of my running my hands through my hair to get all of the extra hair out.

I think so too. That's why I posted even though it's kind of gross! I have had hair loss before when I lost about 60 pounds in 4 months and it was absolutely nothing like this. This is CRAZY. I swear when I was pulling the hair out I gasped and that's from someone that spent about a year dealing with hair loss so if I was shocked I know the new people are going to faint when they see this. Especially if they aren't taking out their extra hair before they even take a shower...
I didn't look, but how far out are you and at what point did yours start growing back?

Another hijack- dang your month 7 is going well! I am actually up 3 dang it. Went a smidge off plan camping, but nothing crazy. Are you doing anything different yet, or just plugging along with your same approach?

You're so funny! Yeah I lost that in about 2 1/2 weeks. I was surprised. Don't worry about the 3. I've gone up 6 pounds in a week before. As for what I'm doing, trust me, you don't want to follow my "plan"! I am definitely not with the "conventional" methods expressed on this board and I tend to not drink water often... which has caused me to go in for dehydration far too many times.
Trust me, the only things keeping me sane are the fact that thousands of people have gone through this before me and I know that pretty much all of them have gotten their hair back. Also, I know about telogen effluvium (this type of hair loss) so I am less scared and the fact that I look a lot better helps me through the process too.
My only huge issue is not knowing when it's going to stop. Even though it SHOULD stop in a month or two, some people experience chronic telogen effluvium for years. For instance, if you can't get the trigger under control like protein, vitamins, low calories or whatever it is that is causing it. I think (just my theory) heavy weights may have prolonged hair loss due to their prolonged journey. Don't quote me on it.
