I'm Alive!

Hello my OH family,

I know I have been neglecting you all the last week, apologies!

We have a crazy project at work that I have been working on.  The Holiday, and then I started writing a new program for planning and tracking my observation sessions for my renewed Astronomy hobby.  I just got so busy that I haven't done much else.  Even with all of that, I had family visiting too - you know how it is.

I did learn a few things about myself.  This was the first time since my surgery that I have really gotten to do any recreational programming.  Its funny how easy it was to fall back into old habits - getting into a programming daze and forgetting to eat.  I looked up one night, it was after mignight and I hadn't eaten dinner.  I thought to myself - "WOW".  A year ago I would have reached for the phone a called a pizza joint for delivery.  I didn't do that.  I had some chicken and called it a night.  I have to learn to be mindful of my eating, even when I am not eating!

Friday my server crashed - I host my own websites and e-mail.  It took me all day Friday and Saturday to get that back and operational.  I had some bad sectors in my back-up disc and still lost some data.  The BLOG is gone!  The website files are still there but there was n recovering the database that powered wordpress.  All of my blog posts are toast.  When I get back from my trip tonight I will have to reinstall wordpress from scratch on all of my sites.  That was a LOT of work.

I have to travel to Chicago tonight to do some customer exploration for this work project.  This will be fun - its my first time in front of a customer as the new me.  Talk about a NSV!  I packed all of my clothes for the trip in a little Bulgari duffle that my husband got free with some cologne.  No need to even take a suit case for an overnight trip.

The chicago trip came up last minute.  That left me feeling a little deprived.  My new telescope is supposed to arrive today.  It will probably only be here minutes before I have to leave for the airport.  When I get back, the weather is supposed to be crap so I won't be able to do any start gazing until after my Eye surgery on Thursday.    LAst night that was driving me to want to eat.  I had to deal with that some.

And on a final note  - I still haven't hit goal.  These last 3 pounds are being a pain in my (bony) ass.  Its also probably because I haven't been sleeping as much as I should - with the recreational programming and such.  I need to take better care of myself in that regard.


So sorry for having been away so long - as you can see I have been pretty jammed up.  I know I owe some of you responses to PMs. Please don't think me rude that I havent gotten back to you sooner.  I will do my best to get those answered today while I am on the plane or in the hotel.

You lost your BLOG?  Oh dear, is it somewhere in caches online, or the wayback machine, etc?  I don't know how any of that works but supposedly nothing ever really disappears from the intertubes.

I'm sorry you have had to deal with this nightmare.

OTOH, so happy that you have rediscovered some old passions!  Does this mean that life can become centered on life its own self and not on sleeves and food, and yet still stay on course?  You give me hope.  Congrats!

Don't fret.  That 3 pounds will disappear when you least expect it.

Wow you have a lot going on!!! Take care of yourself!!! Last week I was wondering what happened to you. There were some interesting comments on the forum and we all missed your input and I believe several ppl were looking for you... We needed you to give ppl the reality check!! Lol but we will look forward to seeing you again on this board

 OH no!  I hope you have the actual posts backed up?  I try to write all mine in word first before transferring to the blog just in case.  Sounds like this week has been exciting and stressful.  Stress is never good for weight loss.  I hope you can say you are at goal soon!

I've missed your inspirational posts during my 1st post-op week; I hope your eye surgery goes well!

That explains then when I didn't see you here and I checked to see if you'd blogged I couldn't get anywhere!

I remember how I had always wanted to find the constellations, and I'd get my Golden Guide to Astronomy and spend lots of time outside getting nowhere.  Then we did the Astronomy badge in Girl Scouts and one of the dads took us out into the country with a telescope. 

First of all, my goodness how much better it was to have someone pointing things out to us!  I only knew Orion and the Big Dipper before that night, but he showed us a dozen more and I felt like the top of my head had blown off.

Then we looked through the telescope!  It was thrilling.  I can't imagine how wonderful it must be in 2012, all the new technology and stuff.  I can't stop reading those books about time and space and the multiverse and all that astrophysics stuff until I get a headache.  We really are such tiny little specks.

So from one speck to another, welcome back!
