Learning to shop again

I also look at different YouTube videos for ideas. I'm 40 now and was last thin at 21. I had to mentally adjust to being smaller and older. I want to look tasteful but not frumpy. Plus size stores were so depressing for me!

Thank you so much for this post!  I am having the same issue... being heavy all my life, I always went for what fit.  Now that I can wear anything, lots of stores overwhelm me... so I have been sticking to thrift stores due the limited selection.  I actually was given a gift card for clothes... that I ended up using for shoes because nothing they had in the store fit me (everything was actually too big)... imagine... was not able to shop there when I was a size 26 because they never had that size and then not being able to shop there when I am a size 6 because they don't have that size either.  I was given another gift card for Kohl's but got so frustrated trying to decide on clothes and figure things out that I gave up and ended up buying clothes for my nephew with it. 

Thank goodness I have a sister who is close in age that has been thin most of her life and has passed clothes onto me that she no longer fits in (she had her son 18 months ago but had never lost all of the baby weight and is pregnant with twins now... so she has given up hope of fitting into her pre-baby clothes for now and figures by the time she gets back into that size, they will all be out of style) and my figure seems to be what hers used to be...  She mostly shopped at NY and Co., Old Navy, and JC Penney but she warned me that sometimes shopping can be tough for age appropriate clothing, since for me and formely her, junior sizes fit much better.  Eventually, when I do feel brave enough to buy new clothes, I think I will be bringing her with me.
