Goal!! I made it! :) (pics)
Thank you all so much for your very kind words and especially all the support here from the very first time I showed up, thinking about having VSG surgery! I truly appreciate it so much. It is such fun to be able to show my "goal weight" pictures here, because along the way I just devoured everyone else's pictures as they reached such awesome milestones. It helped keep me going and kept me motivated and excited!
Thanks for your support regarding my daughter, too. :) She is just about 5'0" and 217 pounds at 13 years old. :( This summer, as I have gotten into running and exercise so much, she has been there every step of the way and she is a huge motivator for both of us. She encourages me to get us to the YMCA every day possible, and goes to great lengths (prepping dinner, helping with her younger brothers, etc) to make time in our busy schedule. So far, she's only taken off a few pounds, but as she has exercised more, her eating continues to improve and she is feeling very proud of her hard work, which has increased her resolve and commitment.
We are both very excited about the 5Ks coming up on 8/18 and 9/9. She has said she isn't ready yet, but by spring she plans to be running half marathons with me. :)
VSG surgery did for me what I was unable to do alone: be a better role model and leader for my kids when it comes to food and exercise. I am quite hopeful that through my success with VSG, I am able to help my daughter avoid needing to consider WLS herself down the road. Together we are working hard on good habits and understanding of healthy living.
Thanks again, very, very much. The friendships and support and insight here are just invaluable! Good luck to everyone, I love to watch your stories unfold, too!!
