Maybe I missed something
I am reading posts and I see a ton of information about weighing foods and how much of this or that to consume. I swear I did months of meetings and food tracking with my dietician who works with my doctor but I dont remember being told any of this. I was told how many shakes to drink and was told what I would be eating/drinking after surgery but I was never given specifics.
Now I am 9 days out and concerned I am going to be lost. I am going to go home tonight and review everything I was given to see if it helps.

I weigh and measure things so I know potentially EXACTLY what I am putting into my body calorie/carb/protein wise. Sometimes I don't finish what I've measured. But I know if it takes UP TO what I measured to feel satisfied then that is ok.
For me measuring is important because I am a binge eater. I will eat way more than I should without thinking about it. Measuring and only allowing myself JUST that keeps me under control.

I weigh and measure everything. That way I never get to full, just satisfied.

My goals were pretty simple:
70+ protein
under 40g carbs, I stayed around 20
600-800 cals, I stayed around 700 once I was really healed and able to eat..
Work up to 100oz+ a day in fluids, but a minimum of 65-70oz.
Early out- It was impossible for me to eat more than 1.5oz meat at a "meal". There was no room for veggies at all. My carbs came from a fiber supplement and some cheese/dairy. I still have 1 shake a day, back then, sometimes it was 2 a day.. We're talking from 30days to 4 mo or so.. till I could routinely eat 2oz of meat at a sitting. I do not worry over fat, as fat is essential- especially if you are low carbing it- and with the calorie allotment, you really cannot get a lot of fat in there, and still make your protein goals within your plan.. so that was a non-starter for me.
That's it, that was my plan. I ate slow, very slow early out- now I can eat at a more normal pace, but my stomach still says done at 2-2.5oz, but I can get some veggies in now, and started working lower carb veggies in there as soon as I could in the form of snacks.

There is a lot of confusion after surgery because it seems that differnet doctors do things a bit differently. My doctor's and nut's said - 64g protein, 64 oz water, and vitamins - just make sure I get that in aht I'll be fine. Well, when I look through my paperwork from the nut, it does give you lists of foods you can eat at differnet stages, and sample meals. If you just follow that, you should be fine. It still says 64g/64oz/vitamins but give samples. Yell if you need help.
For the first couple of phases I had some "here's what you can eat" food plans - sugar free Jello, etc.
My doctor does not require or even suggest that I log my food. He says "protein first" and the rest will follow. I also didn't need much guidance as to what was good food and what was bad. I ate a primarily vegetarian (with tofu) diet with lots of Indian and Thai food and sushi pre-surgery.
If you need more guidance or a specific plan of action, then definitely ask for it. Everyone's plan is different in the minutea but overall - protein first, make sure you get your liquids in and don't eat ice cream. :)
