Work Meetings and Food

I have a mandatory work meeting tomorrow. It will be from  8 until 3:30. We have to leave early to get there. I don't know what to do about eating. If I eat before we leave, it will literally be about 5-6 hours before I get the opportunity to eat again, unless I try to get something down during bathroom breaks. (Not allowed to eat in meeting). I am not even sure that I will be able to eat whatever it is they serve for lunch.

I don't want to seem persnickity or like I am throwing my surgery up in anyone's face, but what are your opinions on asking my district manager what they are serving at our meeting?

Also, does anyone think it would be bad manners to take a RTD protein shake?

Take a shake, carry a protein bar and a cheese stick with you.  Hopefully you can get through without too many problems.

Maybe put a protein drink in a thermas type cup to keep it cold amd sip on it?

If it were me, id pack a protein bar, some nuts, and lttle sticks/packs of jerky in my purse and eat duing bathroom breaks

Thanks guys. I am not at a stage where I can do nuts, but I will take a shake. I guess it would be less conspicuous in a thermos.

Before the surgery, I would have brought diabetes-friendly food (our office tends to serve pizza at every event).  The vegetarians often bring their own lunches.  I don't really see how this is different.  Bring what you can eat.  If they happen to serve something that will work for you, you can always take the other stuff back home.

I agree with everyone. Bring food, also it is okay to ask what serving. I have done it before and if they ask why I just say because I am working hard on my food choices. You can do it, have a good meeting.

I appreciate it. I usually don't have a problem if I am at my office. I keep my stuff in the fridge and just eat my stuff and am not tempted by what others are having. But tomorrow, we will be out of town, with no access to a fridge. I think I will take RTD shakes in an insulated lunch bag with ice packs and pour them into a thermos on my breaks. That sounds pretty reasonable. I might even throw in a couple of light cheese sticks just in case.
