New Job Insatiable Hunger

Urgh.  One thing I've been able to count on my sleeve for is very little real hunger.  Head hunger, yes but real hunger not so much.  I've come up with some pretty good ways to counter head hunger and life has been rolling along fine.

Queue this week.  I started my new job working at a horse barn.  I ride horses multiple times a day, give lessons, work around the barn and all in all I'm on my feet 8+ hours a day.  Queue hunger that won't stop.  I knew this was going to be an adjustment. I mean I was a stay at home mom and now I have a very physically demanding job.  On top of this I still run in the morning and have my weight routine.  I've put on 3 lbs this week.  I can pretty much bet that it's water weight from all the extra work but still disconscerning none the less.

Now I find myself starving all the time!  I've upped my calories to around 1,000 a day (from 700 or so).  I struggle to get there, but within 20 min. of any meal, I'm starving again.  I'm trusting that there is no way on 1,000 calories a day I've really gained 3 lbs, so I'm trying to let that go, but this hunger is distracting to say the least.  Is this just a wait and see and let my body get used to the new routine?  How long should I wait?  I have struggled with making healthy decisions for the first time because the hunger is so constant, and for the first time since surgery, I've done things like have a slice of pizza.  I've still stayed under my calories but only by white knuckling it.  I know I can't do that long term (that's how I ended up 270 lbs) so I gotta figure this out.

Any insight?  Ideas?

If you are getting hungry within 20 minutes of eating, that is a classic sign of acid. When you eat your stomach has to produce acid to help with digestion. If you are producing too much = acid/hunger.

If you are not on a PPI, consider it. Stress can also increase acid. If you are on a PPI, consider an H2blocker like znatax, pepcid, tums,e tc just to see if it helps and can help you figure out the problem.

That hadn't even crossed my mind as I've had no issues since surgery.  Could just be the stress is making it go into overdrive.  I shall grab a PPI and see if that helps.  Thanks!

I don't really have any advice for you just a that I've been there too. I work 12 hours shifts at a ER nurse and I am always hungry at work and have to eat every 2 hours of so. When I am at home I don't experience that. Makes me wonder if it is the stress of the job or is it because I am burning so many calories??? Not sure but anyways congrats on the job you will figure it out!
