Would you go?

My husband and I are supposed to attend a friend's wedding 10 days after my surgery. 1. Do you think I will feel up to it? 2. Obviously I won't be able to eat dinner, and I really don't want to get weird looks, but I suppose that's not really a reason not to go. I already RSVPd so do you think I should tell her I can't make it, or just go?

I would go.  No one at a wedding, with all that's going on, is going to be that worried about what you do or don't eat.  By 10 days out, you'll be feeling well enough to enjoy the wedding, although you may not be dancing the night away.

I would go (unless the day comes and you feel like completely crap). I wouldn't worry too much about the eating part. You can just say that you aren't feeling well or are on a strict diet (both true). It's your friend's wedding and I think you will both be glad if you are there. Have fun!

I would also go and not sweat it. If you aren't feeling well, bow out early. No one will be paying attention to your eating and if they do just say you're just not hungry and feeling up to eating right now, but thank you.

 Hi Mary,

I'd go as well. I think with all the festivities, nobody will notice what and how much you eat.

Leave early if need to and get a pic for comparison down the line. In 6 months you will be glad you did.

Best,

Sharon

You're getting good advice.  Bottom line--do what you feel like that day.  But if you feel up to it, go.

I was in a very similar situation that you were... my good friend since seventh grade was getting married within a few weeks of my surgery. I went and had a great time. I wasn't tearing up the dance floor, and I didn't get to eat the wonderful food..... but I still had a great time.
